Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

Charity name: The Tamesis Trust

Charity registration number: 1159891

Public benefit

The Tamesis Trust objects are:-

" The Advancement of Education in the History of Navigation on the River Thames by the Conservation, Maintenance and Display of all types of craft associated with the River, and or related artifacts and records of any kind and in any format, for the benefit of the public by exhibition in a Museum or otherwise and through publication, lectures and events."

Activities

The Tamesis Trust was established by trustees of The Consuta Trust in 2015 to work towards a proposed Thames Historic Boat Museum to be based at Beale Park. The Beale Park Trustees however subsequently decided to cancel their agreement with the Tamesis Trust despite planning approval for the museum. The Tamesis Trust are currently looking at other possible locations for a public historic boat museum.

During 2020/21 the trust continued to share a shed storage with the Consuta Trust. There has been no progress towards establishing a Thames museum, also most Thames public events during 2020 had been cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Tamesis Trust have a website and a presence on facebook media. The Trust own the 1870 steam launch Cygnet plus a variety of historical steam, internal combustion and electric boat engines, and also many other related artifacts. Most of these have been donated by supporters, further details can be found on the trust website.

Finances during the financial year.

Trust received a donation of £20,000 which was applicable for a £5,000 gift aid tax refund from HMRC, this was a donation specifically given to develop a museum so is shown in the Restricted Funds column. The only expenditure during the year was the annual insurance for Cygnet, there was £150 interest from our Virgin savings account, giving a net deficit of £127 in the general fund.
