In setting obiectNes and planning for activrties the Trustees have given
due regard to the general guidan￿ published by the Charity Commission
in connection wtth public benefft.
Public benefft has been achieved by ensuring that the use of the funds
given has been publicised- both in the range of types of animal helped
and the way that their weware has been furthered.
The events that we have attended have also been opportunities to
educate the public about animal welfare, the need to challenge animal
cruelty, and how animals are best ¢ared for.
Summary ofthe maln
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on publiG
benefit)
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional infomiallon)
Animal Canopy promotes animal welfare in the main by making grants to
appropriate animal rescue organisations who have met the grant making
policy requirements. Each organisation has followed the application
process wor to the grant tEing released, and has then executed the
projecuactivities whith provided the basis for the grant being made.
Animal Canopy is very appreciative of the contributions made by our
valued volunteers. They have been very supFortive and have offered
their time. expertise and suggestions unstintingly.

Section D
Achievements and performance
Achievements in 2023.
Our activities in 2023 have focused on fund raising and th8 allocation of
grants to qualtfying organisations, although health issues have caused us
considerabte changes to our usual activities.
Summary of the main
achievements of the charlty
during the year
We have been unable to attend any fund raising events this year,
although our collecting tins based in shops have continued to publicise
our presen￿ in the communty. Sadly. our very SUC￿ssful relationship
with the Cockapoo UK CMners Club has came to a mutually agreed end
this year. We have. however. continued to receive donations from
individuals on a regular basis. We have also been the beneficiary of a
generous bequest from one of our supporters who sadly passed away
late in 2022.
This year we have been involved in the distribution of purple poppies-
the remembrance of animals knlled or injured in war zones (the animal
equivalent of the Brtiish Legion red poppies) to a limited extent.
A total of £23232 was raised in 2023. The majority of this was the
bequest that we received. Many thanks are also due to the trustees and
supporters for their continued hard work and commitment.
We evaluate grant applications a year (February and August), and
as a result have made 14 grants totalling £19236 in 2023. 10 grants
(£12236) were to UK based organisations and 4 grants (£7000) were
outside the UK.
It has been very encouraging to hear how the organisations have used
the grants to further animal weffare and provide public benefit in doing so.
The trustees have had due regard to the guidance on public benefft given
in the Charities Act and the Charities (Accounts and Reports)
Regulations 2008 when planning and executing each event.
Plans for 2024.
We will continue to work closely wrth the organisations that we support.
However. the long temi illness issues currently being suffered will affect
what V￿ can achieve wrth the charity. We will assess how we can best
continue to support small animal rescue organisations and we hope that
we will be atAe to support a good number of them next year.
