In setting objectFves and planning for activities the Trustees have given
due regard to the general guidan￿ published by the CharÉty Commission
in connection with public benefft.
Public benefft has been achieved by ensuring that the use of the funds
given has been publicised - both in the range of types of animal helped
and the way that their welfare has been furthered.
The events that we have attended have also been opportunities to
educate the public about animal welfare, the need to challenge animal
cruelty, and how animals are best cared for.
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit)
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional inforniation)
Animal Canopy promotes animal wemare in the main by making grants to
appropriate animal rescue organisations who have met the grant making
policy requirements. Each organisation has followed the application
prO￿sS prior to the grant being released, and has then execLrted the
projectlactivities which provided the basis for the grant being made.
Animal Canopy is very appreciative of the contributions made by our
valued volunteers. They have been very supportive and have offered
their time, expertise and suggestions unstintingly.
You may choose to include

Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary ofthe main
achievements of the charlty
during the year
Achievements in 2021.
Our actIv￿eS in 2021 have focused on fvnd raising and allocation of
grants to qualrfying organisations, although the Covid 19 pandemic has
continued to restrict our usual activities.
We have. however. been able to conduct 7 tabletop sales, attend 5
events, and our collecting tins based in shops have also been successful
this year. We have benefftted from the sale of woodcraft made and
donated by one of our supporters. We were very fortunate that the
Co¢kapoo UK Owners Club have continued to support us this year. It has
been encouraging to re￿1ve some donations from individuals on a
regular basis. We have also become involved in the distribution of purple
poppies - the remembrance of animals killed or injured in war zones (the
animal equivalent of the British Legion red poppies). All funds raised in
this way were sent to organisations who care for war damaged animals.
A total of £18282 was raised in 2021, which reflects the hard work and
commitment shown by the trustees and supporters
We evaluate grant applicakn.ons Iw1￿ a year (February and August), and
as a resutt have made grants of £17750 in 2021. Of this total, £12400
was to UK based organisations117 grants) and £5350 went to overseas
organisations {4 grants). It has been very encouraging to hear how the
organisations have used the grants to further animal welfare and provide
public benefft in doing do. Wrth regard to one of the grants this year, we
have set aside our standard priortties such that this grant exceeded our
preferred maximum grant (£2000). The recipient organisation (one that
we have supported several times in the past) was heavily involved in the
emergency rescue of animals from Afghanistan. We decided to make a
significanl contribution to support them in their successful evacuation of
their animals and staff.
The trustees have had due regard to the guidan￿ on public benefit given
in the Charities Act and the Chartties (Accounts and Reports)
Regulations 2008 when planning and executing each event.
Plans for 2022.
We wll continue to work closely with the organisations that we support.
However, the ongoing Covid pandemic means that we cannot realistically
plan for 2022 in any detail. We also have long tem illness issues, which
*￿11 affect what we can achieve WTth the charty.
