SORP reference<br>There has been no need to amend the Grant<br>Para 1.38  Giving Policy which remains in place as<br>Policy on grant making  follows:<br>Priorities for support<br>The number of individuals and groups which<br>can be supported is, of necessity, limited to<br>the amount of funds available for distribution<br>in any year. The Trustees have determined<br>that the priorities for funding over the next<br>years will be:<br>• Schools serving socially deprived<br>communities (Informed by school %FSM &<br>WIMD).<br>• Assisting children and young people in<br>attending centre for whom the charges may<br>be prohibitive.<br>Principles<br>• Grants are given in the form of subsidies to<br>groups on the fees charged by Storey Arms.<br>• Only groups of young people from Cardiff<br>or the Vale of Glamorgan are eligible for<br>subsidies.<br>• Maximum amount for any one individual is<br>the full course fee.<br>Grant application process<br>• Subsidies are offered at the point of<br>enquiry about a booking, through discussion<br>with the Head of Centre.<br>• Where a subsidy is granted the booking<br>letter has the statement “with support from<br>the Friends of Storey Arms” included in it.<br>• The trustees are happy to receive requests<br>in writing.<br>Policy on social investment  Para 1.38<br>including program related<br>investment<br>The Trustees are aware that they need to<br>Para 1.38  recruit more volunteers to join the<br>Contribution made by  Committee and to re-start our fund-raising<br>volunteers  efforts following the pandemic.<br>The current Honorary Secretary is a<br>volunteer and we thank her for her time and<br>commitment.<br>Other<br>**----- End of picture text -----**<br>

## **Financial Review**

Review of the charity’s  Para 1.21<br>financial position at the end  An increase in Member and miscellaneous<br>of the period  donations and neck scarves sales, led to a<br>much healthier level of income for this<br>financial year. Our neck scarf sales were very healthy this<br>year (but the income also includes some<br>monies from the previous year that hadn’t<br>been banked).<br>We are very aware that our income is very<br>‘passive’ and comes in without any effort<br>from us.  This is something that we are<br>addressing and we are planning a joint fund-<br>raising venture with a partner organisation.<br>This will be happening in the coming year.<br>Investment policy and  N/A<br>objectives including any<br>social investment policy  Para 1.46<br>adopted<br>A description of the principal  Changes in personnel within Cardiff Council<br>risks facing the charity   Para 1.46  (owner/operator of the Storey Arms Centre),<br>have resulted in a different working<br>relationship between the centre and the<br>Council.  Early indications suggest that the<br>previous funding support that was in place<br>will no longer be available.  This means that<br>the Head of Centre will, once again, be<br>asking the charity for financial assistance for<br>schools and groups, in line with our grant<br>making policy.<br>With the continuing legacy of the pandemic<br>on a personal level for our Trustees and<br>previous volunteers, it is not realistic to rely<br>on the same few people to organise fund-<br>raising activities.<br>We need to commit to a recruitment drive to<br>get people involved again on a practical<br>level.<br>We will continue to look at the opportunities<br>for applying to other grant-making bodies for<br>direct funding which may help in the short<br>term.<br>Other<br>**----- End of picture text -----**<br>
