Strurture, Governance and management
Structure and Organlsatlon
The charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) was set up on 7 Jan 2015 with registration number 1159827.
In 2020 the charity was temporally mothballed pending the appointment of the New Board of Trustees by
the previous church plant who were the main users of the church building. The New Board was formally
appointed On 25 April 2021 and the running of and the assets of the charity passed to them on that date.
Trustee appolntments
The Pastorlsl of the church are ex-offlcio members of the Board of Charity and their position is reviewed
two years from appointment and then every four years after that. The remainingTrustees are elected
annually by members of North Watford Church of the Nazarene at the annual general meeting held in or
around March each year.
Governance and wlder Network
The Board of Trustees meets regularly, normally on a monthly basis, to consider the work and management
of the church and assess and plan the financial and other aspects of the W￿rk and direction of the charity.
The church/CIO is a member of the Church of the Nazarene British Isles South District (a Charitable
Company ￿rnited by Guarantee, Company No. 1133336), which in turn is a member of the Global Church of
the Nazarene which has its headquarters in Lenexa USA.
The CIO is governed by an approved governlng constituting document drawn up by Anthony Collins, Charity
Solicitors, Birmingham and approved by the Charity Commission for England and Wales and HMR&C. The
governing document is based on the Manual of the Global Church of the Nazarene where UK law permits.

The charity has the following objectives:
a) The advancement of the Chrlstian falth as part of the Global Church of The Nazarene and the Church of
the Nazarene British Isles South District. b) To serve and enhance the local community.
Publk Benefit
The Trustees have had due regard to the Charlty Commlsslon guidance on public benefit reporfjng in
deciding what activities the charity should undertake. This report illustrates the activities undertaken to
support the public benefit requirement.
Revlew of the Year
General: The church has continued to grow and offers a spiritual and social hub for the Portuguese speaking
community in Warford and the wider area around. Several events were held over the year which supported
our aims of promoting the Christian faith and benefiting the local community such as a special event for
couples. Work was also done on improving the church facilities for more effective use of the buildin8.
The aims for the year included:
Continuation of weekly Christian Worship meetings and promoting of the Christs'an falth in
accordance with the principles of the Church of the Nazarene.
Work with children and young people to promote the Chrlstian faith and provide local social
benefit.
Continuing to develop links with local community, to enhance the involvement of the church with
and relevant local agencies on behalf of the local- community.
Continue to partner with and make the church building available to relevant local agencies seeking
to benefit the local community, such as agencies include but not restricted to residents, groups,
childminder groups, Scouts, etc.
Significant activities during the period include:
Sunday V￿rshIp services in the Nazarene tradition held in Portuguese language.
Weekly Sunday school proving children with biblical knowledge.
Regular Youth/Ladies and Men's mlnistry events opened to the communltv.
Weekly meetings for spiritual and personal development, growth and education.
Week-day use of the building by'Honey's Nest, pre-school group to benefit the local community.
Weekly use of the building by another Christian group, promoting servlces in an African language.
All services, activities and events were opened to the comrnunity with no restrictions.

the actiN* inw)Noment of members and frlends of the charity wlthout whom the ￿￿rk of the charity could
r+ot be r￿lIzed. The board of Trustees Is grateful for the work and support of all the members and frlends of
the North Walford Church of the Naiarene.

Flnanclal RevFew and notes to the Accounts
The accounts of the dmrity have been prepared in acuKdance with the relevant Charity SORP.
Reserves
The charity does not have a formal policy on reserves as the expenditure and work of the charity is reliant
upon the ongoing support, tr'thes and offerings of the members and friends received at the weekly
Meetings. The 8oard of Trustees reviews on a rnonthly basis the anticipated income and expenditure for the
next two to three months in order to ensure the ongoing th￿rk of the charity. The charity currently holds a
little over £ 59,IXX).00 in savings.
Rnandal Revlew of the Year
The charity has continued to tailor the expenditure it incurs to the income received through Trthes and
Offerings and rent for use of the building by other groups. The income for the year comprises tithes &
offerings, donations and support funding from the Nazarene Brith'sh Isles South District towards pastoral
salary, plus hall rental. Finances continue to be healthy and this has facilitsted a spend of over £19,{￿ this
year on maintsining the church building and providing improved facilities. The church finishes the period in
strong position and while we have not increased our savings, neither have we needed to utilise them.
Church Income frorn all sources V¥7S £63,465.15 and Expenditure was £65,371.28.
Assets and Uabiiities
Cash Funds Held at 30 Sept 2023.. Cash Book: £12,324.31. Savings Account: £59,435.04. There is also an
outstsnding loan to our Pastor of £625 which will be carried forward to the next financial year.

The Assets of the charity are as follows:
The property situate at 19 Balmoral Road, Watford, WD24 4ER. The legal ts'tle is held by the Incorporated
Trust Corporation, Church of the Nazarene Brits'sh Isles South District, Company Registered Number:
07028764, on behalf of the local Trustees. This is the church buildin8 and has an insured value of
£1,904,644 {building and contents).
The property situate at 70 Westfield Avenue, Watford WD24 7HE, the legal title is held by the Incorporated
Trust Corporation, Church of the Nazarene British Isles South District, Company Registered Number:
07028764, on behalf of the local Trustees. This is the church house (manse) and has an insured value of
£432,088{building only).
A full schedule of assets within the above properties, which includes white goods and equiprnent used in
SUPPOrt of the activities of the church, can be made available upon request.

Trustee Expenses
Pastoral Salary of £24,908.28 and pastoral expenses of £848.79. A totsl of 25,757.07 including salary and
expenses were paid to Rev. Jose Correia Junior. No other Trustee received any remuneration or expenses in
this year or the previous year. An estimated £4,0(X) was received in unrestricted funds {as tithes and
offering5} from the Trustee5.
Related Party Transactlons
There were no related Party Trnnsactions during thls year or the previous year.
Plans for Future Perlods
The Board of Trustees meets on a monthly basis to plan and look to the future of the charity.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity (Ihe Trust.) for the year ended 3010912024
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
('the Act.).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charty Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I Confi￿ that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination {other than that
disclosed below ') which gives me cause to believe that in, any material
respect:
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130
of the Charities Act., or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
conceming the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
that the accounts give a ttrue and faif view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
