Annual Report

We have had a busy year with the Gerontius Amenity Fund. We have successfully treated 2 cancer patients requiring chemotherapy and I am extremely grateful to all our donors. We have treated 32 patients, some of whom were a repeat patients with different conditions. Malaria and Se 4 { typhoid continue to be a problem with 10 0f them having malaria and/or typhoid. We have also had 2 cases where , SEAN PERT malnutrition has been part the diagnosis, an alarming new phenomenon. This 4 year old was referred to us with a ' GESSN » hernia but the surgeons were unable to operate because of ‘ ety Ree his malnutrition.

This 30 year old was laid flat with fever, chest pain and bodily pain.

I should also like to thank our volunteers who have helped at fundraising events, without whom our work would not be possible

On the fundraising front, we had 3 very good events. After we made a loss at our Barn Dance we invited Eliane Poney to join us. She has connections in the Ivory Coast. Meanwhile our administrator Hannah has been offered a piece of land in Sierra Leone we would like to use to build a school. So our Burns Night in January was a joint fundraiser for the Fondation Marie in the Ivory Coast, the school in Sierra Leone and healthcare. As was our Garden Pary in June. We are trying to change our charity constitution to “Alleviation of Poverty in West Africa” so we can legitimately fundraise for all 3 projects through the charity.
