THE GOOD WAY APOSTOLIC CHURCH (GWAC) Reports and Financial Statements Year ended 31ST DECEMBER 2022

Trustees Report

The trustees presents its annual report together with the accounts for the year ended 31ST DECEMBER 2022.

MISSION : To build a Good Way Family dedicated to reaching out to our community and beyond to change the lives of all people including the youth through the Gospel and to raise an army of Believers through the word.

FROM THE CHAIRPERSON : Having come out of the pandemic, the year 2022 has been a rebuilding process to get the church going once again. In spite of the challenges the church has continually to live our obligation by influencing both the church members and our community at large. To achieve this, we undertake a series of events aimed at empowering and shaping the lives of individuals in the church and the lives of those of our local community.

Due to many disruptions in our bookings our English service was re-located from Haringey Sixth Form Centre to Raynham Primary School in Edmonton while the Twi services is still being held at Angel Community Centre Raynham Road N18 2JF.

On behalf of the trustees, I would like to commend the resident Pastors and the Presbytery for affecting the members of the church significantly which has encouraged them to grow in their faith journey and other areas of their lives due to their constant hard work, dedication and commitment aiming to achieve the mission and vision of the church.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES : As part of our tradition as a church, our theme for the year 2022 was THE PRESENCE OF GOD. Taking from Exodus 33:14

Members were asked by the Pastors to seek and be conscious of the presence of God at all times and at anywhere for the presence of God provides help during troubled times, divine rest, spiritual strength & encouragement and many more.

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT : The charity’s’ sole employee still remains the resident Pastor of the church, Pastor David Amoah.

To help the resident Pastor to manage and coordinate the various departments within the church, are others who also serve as volunteers who were supervised and received required training from the trustees.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PERFORMANCE : Below is the list of activities undertaken during the year in review, highlights key accomplishments and performances. Though 2022 was a re-building process as we were coming out of the pandemic which affected many of the church’s events since still most of our services were done online.

JANUARY: As a tradition of our church, we were ushered into the new year with a Crossover Night Service where prayers were made for individuals, the church as a whole and the nation for the Lord’s blessings and protection throughout the year.

After the Crossover Night Service, on Sunday 2[nd] of January 2022 we had our first New Year Welcome Service with Communion. The Church then embarked on 14 days fasting & prayer from Monday 3[rd] – Sunday 16[th] January with the Theme: Spiritual Foundation based on Psalm 11:3 which says: Again, severe prayers were made for individual, the church and the nation as a whole

On Saturday 22[nd] , for our leaders to be effective to carry out their duties throughout the year to serve our congregation and the community effectively, a day seminar was organized to train them on “Effective Leadership”.

FEBRUARY: To celebrate the year’s Valentine season, from Monday 14[th] – Sunday 20[th] we held our annual Valentine’s week seminars, which included teaching seminar for the married, and singles seminar of discussions of matters relating to marriage for the youth. Guest speakers were invited to cater to each group and to share their experiences of marriage and relationships and to also educate singles on how to prepare and how to choose a partner. On Saturday 19[th] we organized couples and singles dinner party where members of the community and friends were invited to celebrate love, marriage and singlehood.

MARCH: Again, as our tradition, from Monday 28[th] February – Sunday 20[th] March under the Theme: THE POWER OF HIS PRESENCE with the Theme Quotation: Isaiah 43:1-2, we celebrated our annual 21 days of fasting and prayers. The aim of the program as ever was to encourage members to make prayer routine in our lives and to reinforce the power of the presence of God. Guest speakers and people from the wider community were invited to lead different sessions.

All the services except Saturdays and Sundays, were carried out virtually. The church had to restructure the yearly program to cater for online events as part of re-building process.

On Sunday March 27[th] our women led our service as we celebrated Mother’s Day in a wonderful and special way with some refreshments after the service. Again, members of our community were invited to share fellowship with us.

APRIL: A virtual Easter convention was held to mark the Easter season. From Sunday April 10[th] through to Thursday 14[th] the church went through Teachings with prayer on the Passion Week. Every day 8pm-9.30pm on weekdays and two services on Sunday 11am-12.30pm and 1pm-2.30pm were all done online. Members and online viewers were encouraged to partake and were reassured to maintain calm and hold on to their faith in God for protection in the season and indeed the Lord answered our prayer. From Friday 15[th] – Sunday 17[th] April we continue with our Easter Convention.

We ended the month of April with a powerful Youth Service on Sunday 24[th] where a lot of youth from our community were invited.

MAY : We held our regular Sunday’s service together and weekly meetings online On Sunday 22[nd] a United Service of both English and Twi service was held at Angel Community Centre, the Twi service place of worship to name and to dedicate the new born child of Sister Beatrice and her Husband Lawrence. This service is one of we take very seriously as many friends and family members are invited to this service.

As part of our social responsibilities, we ended the month of May with Thanksgiving Service to comfort and encourage one of our sisters, Mary Archer’s whose mother passed away. Another service which attracts a lot of people into the church. These services also give us the opportunity to share the love of God to all who attend.
