Charity Commission on 18 December 2014, wh￿h merged on the 1 April 2016 with HL¥nane Slaughter A$$¢xialion
and Council of Justice to Animals {HSA and CJAI registered charty (No. 209%31. The merger was registered wilh the
Charity CL¥nmis5ion on 24 November 2016 and the charity No. 209563 wa5 sub¥equ8nty di5501ved. The Constitution
dated 18 December 2014 forms tha Association'5 goveming drtumenL

as appropriate, annually. An Inlervn strategy vra5 adopted in February 2021 ahead of a planned comprehensive review
of the strategy for the forthcoming years. Speufic otiieclives are sel. and agreed by the Truslees. prior lo the start of

The project was completed in May 2020 a final report prepared is expxted to be made PLthJlic in 2021. The
project showed that LAPS is unlikety to te a humane repla¢emerl for carbon dioxide. Ithilsl we had hoped to
demonstrate that LAPS would impfove the weltare of pigs * slaught8r the demonstration thal it is r#)t allows future

The HSA has continued ils support of two Research Trnining Scholarshlps ￿rded wi 2015 which supported proiecls

us ol the project to b8 on turkey$. The unused funds used to focus wort with ducks and geese caffled out

In 2017-2018 a Special Travel Award for £7.805 was made to Troy Gibson (Royal Veterinary Colegel lo enable
collaboration be￿een the RVC and Brazilkan institubons ￿g￿ding the welf*e of animals at slaughter. This proieGt 15
expected lo end in 2021.
The 201&2019 Special Travel Award for £5.560 wa5 awarded to Claye Vlhite {Bristol UnNerstyl to travel lo New
Zealand to investigate the system used there lo provi(le wsswance that animals slaughtered for the prcduct•Jn of
Halal meat are reversib￿ stunned. The use of such a polent• racoverable slun 15 considered by many Muslims lo be
acceptable. Claire is investKJatirwJ the 'Nvw ZealarKf moder to see rf it coukl be adopted in the UK. The project is

Over the Summer the HSA staff usualy attend several agrrullwal shows in England and Wales. As well as having a
