I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity ('the Trust") for the year ended
Responsibilities and As the charity trust88s of the Trust, you ar8 responsible for the preparation
basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act
2011 (°the A¢t°).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination. I
have followed the applicable Directions giv8n by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(bl of the Act.
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me
cause to believe that in, any rnalerial rèspect:

During the yèar th8 foundation grew in size (incoming resources up by 392%)
and it is positive to see that the trustees recognised the need to increase
governance throughout as a result of this growth.

thorough way possSble to ensure the long term sustainability of the foundation.

The charity operates in accordance with its constitution and Cknty Commission guidance.
Trnstees are appointed under the ndes of the constitution following eligibility, safeguarding
and declarntion checks.
The Board meets quarterly to oversee governance, finance. safeguarding. and delivery
outcomes. Extraordinary meetings are held as required. The trustees maintain proper mtnutes.
resolutions, and action logs to ensure transparency and accountability.
In 2025 the trnst¢es intriKluced a new Chief Strategy Officer (CSO} role to provide Icader5hip
on funding. complianc¢. and parthership growth. The CSO reports dir¢ctly to the Board and
supports its strdtegic and operatiollal development.
The charity is c￿entlY progressing a fomial name chan8e to The New Ways Foundation to
reflect its wider remit in ttauma-infonned recovery and wellbeing work.

Charlt2ble Objectives and Public Benefit
The Blue Slate Foundation exists to:
l. Thc advancement of health and wellb¢ing: To promote the physical and mentsl health
of children. young people. and adults, particularly in Yorkshire and the North EasL by
using positive activities as a tool of engagement to help them overcome personal
barriers, fostet resilience. and develop the life skills necessary for sustainable
independent living.
2. The reli¢f of those in need: To assist children, young people. and adults experiencing
adversity. such as poverty. trauma. homelessness. addictio￿ or abuse, by providing the
metktoring alld supwrt needed to close the ba￿lerS that stop them from moving forward
in life.

Review of the Year 2025
Overview
2025 was a year of major Progress and renewal for the Foundation. Governance, StruC￿re. and
accountability were strengthened. core programmes grew in Teach, and the organisation took
decisive steps toward establishing a permanent base for its wort the New Earswick Boxing
and Wellbeing Hub.
The charity's trauma-infoTmed programmes have supported survivor5 of abusc. men in
recov¢ry, and young people seeking safe. stru¢tured opportunities for persoT]al growth. It
continues to operate with a strong ethos of lived experienc¢. Compassio￿ and pmfessional
integrity.

peers through practical support and mentoring.
Inside Out Project - publication alld conllnunity distribution of a lived-experienc¢
booklet bighlighting real stories of recovery aDd resilience. produced with input from
service users and partner organisations.
Community Mentsl Health Transforniation Grdnt - multi-year funding awarded to
embed trauma-infornied support and mental health recovery within local community
provision.

The Iyew Earswick Boxing and Wellbelng Hub
A central focus of 2025 was planning and development for the new New Earswick Boxing and
Wellb¢ing Hub, the cbarity's first pernwent base.
The Hub will combine a fully equipped boxing gym with private counselling rooms, group
spaces. and offices, creating a trauma-infornied environment that integrates physical activity,
mentoring, and emotional support.

Partnership discussions with The Salvation Arn]y for tenancy and joint delivery.

Boxing and Wellbeing
Boxing remains central to the Foundation's ethos of strength through structure and community.
New Ways Boxing Club continued to grow. delivcrillg trawna-infonned boxing and
fitness sessions for adults" alld young people.
Safeguardin& England Boxing atTIliatio￿ and ¢oaching compliance werc all
implemente(L
Trustees supported the creation of a pathway from participation to mentoring and
volunteering.
These activities continue to attract participants seeking safe. SUPPK)rtive. and purposeful
engagement.
Partnerships and Collaboration
The Foundation deepened its collaborative WO￿ a¢ross York and the wider region:

and shared use of facilities, still in developmenL
Completed an organisational Charity Health Check with York CVS.
Maintained close links with community mental health networks. lived<xperience

These partnerships ensure that the Foundation's services remain cr￿Ible, accountable, and
onnected to wider community prioriti¢s.
l. Funding and Income
During the financial year, the trustees successfully implemented a new Funding and
Sustainability Strategy, transiltoning from local gym-based income to strategic grdnt funding
and COTporate partne￿ipS.

Post-Year-End Success (Febnjary 2025 onwards): Following the success of the 2024125

for the New Ea￿WICk Hub is ongoing. with capital applications in development for 2026.
2. Financial Review
The charity's financial statements for the year ending 31 January 2025 have been prepared on
a Receipts and PaymenLs basis.
Perforniance and Investment: The Foundation significaDtly improved its financial position this
year, incr&￿ing total incoming resources to £44.707 (up from £l1.389 in 2024). A major
portion of this income was immediately reinvested into the charity's infrastructure, with
£28.200 expended on structurdl fabri(ation for the new premises at the New Eatswick Hub.
Position at Year-End: The clwity ended the year in a strong position with a cash reserve of
£14,381.70. The Foundation has no borrowing and operates within its means. To support thts
growth. the trustee5 are implementing a fonnal reserves EM)licy and an external bookkeeping
arrangement. including independent examinatiory to commence from thc 2026 reporting cycle.
Risk MAnagernent
The trustees matntain a live risk regisler. reviewed quarterly.
Key risks identified during 2025 included:

Foundation (operating as The New Ways Foundation) for the fiscal y&qr ending 31 January

The primary focus of this peTi(MJ was the transition toward 2 trauma-infonned service Model
and the development of the New EaTswick Boxing and Wellbeing Hub. This report reconciles
all bank transactions against the opening baknce caTTied forward from the previous financial
year to ensure a complete audit trail of the charity's grovrth.
2. Executive Summary
Opening C&sh Position: The year commenced with a brought-forward balance of
£8.656.00.
Income Perfornwice: TotaI receipts for the year reached £44.707.26, driven largely by
successful wt applications and Co￿Orate support.
Expenditure: Total payments amounted to £38,981.56. with the most significant
investment directed toward structural fabrication and equipment.
Closing Cash Position: The charity concludes the period with £14.381.70 in liquid
