Main aelfftvities and achievements
Volunteers
Currenily there are 41 befrienders visiting 41 beneficiaries on a weekly
basis. Their are also a number of befriendffl's at different stages of the
re¢ruitn]¢nt pn)ccss.
All befii¢nders have been through an Inte￿ieW pi'ocess with references
being taken up, and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Thei'e is an
iiiduction piocedu¥e which includes safeguai'ding ti'aining, with the
opportunity for first aid and moving and handling ts'aining.
In addition to tlie befiienders, thei'e al'e a nuinber of volunteei. roles witl]in
the charity such as admin support, Int￿vieW1n8 potential befrienders and
beneficiai-ies, matching befriendei's to beneficiaries, di'iving, fundi'aising,
manning the phones, working on the website, piDn]otion and events,
Three of our Trustees MT William Betliell . Mi" Frank Shotter and MY
Mohan Samant hav¢ T¢signed fi'om th¢ boai'd of Truste¢s foi. personal
reasons. They will howevei., continue as B¢frienders/friends of the
Charity. St¢ph¢n Hai'i'ington has joined as a Trust¢¢. He will continue as a
belriender.
Beneficiaries
There are 41 beneficiai'ies being visited on a weekly basis. They enjoy a
variety ol- activities such a5 home visits, cliui'Gh visits. daiicing, shopping
and tiips out.

Local activities:
b.Charity EventtS:
l.Fish and Chips Event on 0110412023: This was a lunch event and as
usual, well allended by Volunteers, B¢neficiai'ies and Trustees with.
lunch music and professional entffl1aimnent. Transportation was arranged
foi. the ben¢ficiaries who needed them.
2.fiarmers Market: Trustees attcnd¢d the Woolton Village Famier's
markel, raising awareness of the Charity's presencc and also campaigning
for new Volunteer befrienders. We had an encouraging response of
sevei'al members of the Community coming forward. They will be taken
through the ti'aining process to befriend.
3.Garden party- On 1510612023.. AnnuaE Garden paity in the house of Mr
Paul &Helen F.koku. We had a bigger attendkmce this year. The feedback
from befriendci's and Beneficiaries h&8 been fantastic.
4.Cream tea event on 05/0812023. This was OiEanized by the Charity foi
the beneficiai'ies and befrienders. It was well attended, live music and
refreshment. ExGcllent feedback from th¢ attendees.
5.Llundudno dgytrip 0210912023: Coach Day trip with 50 of us
consisting of beneficiaries, Volunteer befrienders and Trustees spend the
day in I,landudno promen(Ide enjuying the sunshine, lunch and afternoon
tea at the Merion Hotel. Feedback from attendees was ihat it was a most
enjoyable trip, well organized, Many of the benefi¢iaries had not been on
such a Irip for quite a while.
6.Christmas lunch on 0911212023: This was well attended with music
and dance. Another very successful event.
¢. Website redesign: Website has been completely redesigned by our
Trustee Derek Harold which will enable us to be more cost effici¢nt in the
long run with mol'e updated ver%ion and

d. N¢tworking
The TiJJstees continu¢ n¢twoi4(ing with four local Doctoi, Pi'acti¢¢s, three
Churches in W()oltsin, Liverpool Hope UniveiBity, the Society of St
Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Ai'my al Strawberry Fields, and local
busknesses.
South Liverpool Pilot:
WCL has agFieed to help two neighbourinL3 communities to set up a
Pilot under our umbrella. to start one to on¢ bcfiiending by inviting
Volunteers and setting up a small hub where local GPS in the aY¢a Can
refer, potential beneficiaries. We hav¢ had few referrals fi'oin the GP
Pi'acti¢¢s which are participaling in the Pilot (Mathei. Avenue and
Storrsdale Medical Centres). Th¢ befrienders a¥e also recruited from
that Community and trained as stated in the Pilot protocol.

Tralning
All befi'ienders undergo Safeguarding Training befo￿ they can be
matched with a beneficiary. Befi'iendo's air also offered Basic First Aid
Awar¢n¢ss and moving and handling training. One volunteei" has
compleled minibus ti'aining. project woi-k and trust¢es.
We have arranged a Safeguardin8 and bii'sl-aid i'elresher course for all the
Membe￿ ol the Charity followed by lime for inlei'active discu%.%i(In, on 2

Policies and Procedures
All policies and pro¢edui'es aTe in place, documented and in son]e cases
amended. Safeguarding iraining, Betriender Hand book and other
relevant documents have bc¢n iYviewed and updated as appropiiate.
A new Admin team consist ol" George Ku￿VIlla (Chair). Derek Harold
{Ti'ustee) and Christiiie I-lodkinsoii (BefriendeT) meet i'egulai'ly to Inaiiage
main adminisli?tive issues. They itport to the trustees at the Trustees
meeting sclieduled on alteriiaÉe montlis alld aLso ad-hoc basis as and wheii
necessary.
Funding
There liave beeii generous donatioi)s ￿ld successful fuiidi'aisilig duriiig the
Ye￿.. the details of which are in the finaneial report. Mayoi'al Fund was
helpful in finanoing the day tiip lo Llandudno.
10 Financial Revieiv
WCL has healthy i'eserves as at 31 December 2023, which al'e sufficient to
meet the charity's objectives. We al'e confident therefore that we will
continue to operate foi. the foi'eseeable future.
