KEY ACHEVEMENTS DURING 2021
In 2021, scientkfie cooperatlon ané piofesslonal exchange was stlll affected by COVID-19 related restrlctions in many
Etjyopean countries. The digital tools already used to cope with Ihe pandemic in 2020 became even more RnportAnt in
2021. The main sci8ntth¢ 8V8nl in Europe for chemic81 engl￿er1Th9, th8 joint European Conference on Chemical

topics ranged from raw materials and their availability - including C02 - to Ihe handling of energy and water resources
and dèèp into the del8ils of proe8ss ÈnginÈèring. ECCEIECAB 2021 was 8190 host to thè first èV8r EFCE Scianc8 Slam,

A major EFCE re5earth PToject, the EFCE European Skills Base Survey. wa5 completed in 2021. Rdiable 5tstistical
data for a subSect as dlsunct as chemical engineedng is difficult to axtract from the gov@mm8nt or consullng databases,.

The European Federation of Chemical Enginegring IEFCE) has pmmoted cooperation In Europ8 and elsewhere
between non-profit making professional scientific aThJ technical societies since 1953. In 2014 EFCE was registered as a
Charitable Incorporated Or9anisation ICIOI to help it foster the general 8dvancement of sclence and education of the
public in chemical engineering. In addition, we support the development of chemical engineering in cdlaboralion wth
our rnember sodeties. EFCE encourages progress in chemical engineering through facilitsting the exchange of
informatiw and opinion in m99tings. congresses and journals. supporbng leading iesearchers and emergin9 talent
through medals and prize9. and enabling indu8th"alists an¢J acadomts from acr<>ss Europe to discuss topics of common
