**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:THE SOCIETY IS ESTABLISHED FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES IN YORK AND THE SURROUNDING AREA WHICH SHALL HEREINAFTER BE REFERRED TO AS "THE AREA OF BENEFIT":(1) TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY, NATURAL HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT.(2) TO SECURE THE PRESERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF FEATURES OF HISTORIC PUBLIC INTEREST IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR THE HISTORIC DEFENCES AND YORK CITY WALLS.

**Activities:** In the last year we have secured a 30 year lease for Fishergate Postern Tower from the City of York Council. We are now in the process of applying for funding and obtaining statutory consents to carry out repairs to the tower and create more permanent displays for visitor. We continue to open the tower and other areas of York's city walls to the public to promote their use and conservation.
