|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|**The foodbank has opened two days per**<br>**week throughout the year and has been**<br>**able to maintain sufficient stocks of food**<br>**to be able to respond to those in need**<br>**under the categories stated.**<br>**Links have been established with local**<br>**businesses, churches, schools and**<br>**individuals that have provided items for**<br>**distribution and sometimes made**<br>**donations to enable the foodbank to**<br>**function well. Assemblies have been**<br>**taken at local Primary Schools in recent**<br>**years to inform children of the**<br>**Foodbank’s work and groups of children**<br>**have visited the Foodbank to see what**<br>**work is done.**<br>**Training for volunteers and trustees has**<br>**been carried out and publicity has been**<br>**distributed to publicise the foodbank**<br>**alongside events organised to raise**<br>**public awareness of the foodbank and its**<br>**work.**<br>**Links with the town’s children’s centre**<br>**has resulted in many at risk families**<br>**being helped.**<br>**The Foodbank has joined a local group of**<br>**agencies set up by the local council to**<br>**bring those also working with the same**<br>**client group to meet together for sharing**<br>**ideas and good practice.**<br>**At Christmas time around 100 Families**<br>**were given Christmas Food parcels and**<br>**some children’s items.**|





**Recruitment of volunteers has been encouraging this year and support from a local bank has provided significant financial support by the sale of second - hand books and a donation to the Foodbank. The foodbank has been able to expand its work in Staithes, where a local satellite group has been set up to be serviced by the main centre in Whitby.**
