Chairnian's Statement
2023 Trvas a year of some excithig developments at Meade Hill Shul. The
trustees and volunteers as well as the employees have continued to work
together for the common good and their efforts are bearing fruit.
Decorattng the shul building h&4 thatthlly addeAI a more welcoming touch to the building
for guests and r¢gulgrs alike. It is always a balauce we lle￿ to strike when considering
refiErbishing the existing building whilst envisioning a new building in the corning years.
In tmns of social ¢v¢nts, we had the Hanuka event for the senior memb¢r8 and the Winter
Bank Holidays breakf&gt with a fascinating tall( from ￿10￿8 gu&st speakers. We also hosted
a Challa Bake and arrang￿1 a Purim events with a magician for the kids.
There is also thankfully a tbriving childrffl's Se$vi￿ and we bave also had the privllege to
host various gue8t I￿turerS.
We tballk all who enable this to happen, vthether on a daily or weeklybasis. ]n particular
Rabbi Prijs, our warde￿ Secretary, Gabbai. Cantors. Reader4 and Kiddush volunte£rs
Following charity best practic4 we aim to be as transparent ￿)S￿l)le with our
accounts. Ivbilst mejnbership overaIl saw a decline, other income such as hire of the hall
saw an increase compared with the previous year. Investments saw a 10/0 decline but we are
satisfied that OUT burial fimd is fully covera. Higher Prdgtwxch Synagogue joined our buriaI
board in 2023 too. There w&8 also an insurni¢¢ payout received in 2023.
We also confim] once more that over half of our income comes from membership kn. And
the biggest expense we have is on admin and wagGS, but somc of that was cut in 2023.
We look forward to a furthtt year of expansion and growdL
