Charity Number: 1159078 Charity Name: Little Angels Foundation Financial Year End: 31 March 2023
Introduction
Little Angels Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered in England and Wales. Our mission is to transform the lives of children, young people, and families in Cameroon and the UK. We achieve this through the advancement of education, the relief of poverty, and the provision of counselling and support to individuals in need.
In 2023, we built upon the momentum of prior years, focusing on initiatives that inspire creativity, foster literacy, and provide support to underrepresented communities. Our key services included creative writing workshops, book donations to young people, a World Book Day symposium, and storytelling sessions for underserved audiences. These activities reinforced our commitment to creating opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Our Objectives
The objectives of Little Angels Foundation remain central to our mission:
-
Providing temporary and permanent shelter for disadvantaged children and orphans.
-
Improving the health and well-being of children and the disadvantaged.
-
Offering financial support for the educational advancement of disadvantaged children.
-
Delivering counselling, coaching, and mentoring for distressed children, youth, and families.
-
Establishing vocational training centres and colleges to foster long-term independence.
Key Activities and Achievements in 2023
Creative Writing Workshops for Young People
In 2023, we continued our popular creative writing workshops, offering young people a platform to explore their imaginations and develop storytelling skills. These workshops were held in both community centres and schools, attracting a diverse range of participants. Feedback highlighted the positive impact of these sessions, with many attendees expressing increased confidence and enthusiasm for writing. Several participants showcased their works at local events, underlining the transformative power of creativity.
Books Donation Programme
To encourage reading and education, we significantly expanded our books donation programme in 2023. Through partnerships with local publishers and schools, we distributed hundreds of books to young readers in need. This initiative bridged the gap for children in underserved communities, enabling them to access educational materials and cultivate a love for literature.
World Book Day Symposium
In March 2023, we hosted our inaugural World Book Day symposium, a landmark event that brought together educators, authors, and young readers. The symposium featured engaging discussions, live readings, and interactive activities aimed at promoting literacy. Participants left inspired by the power of books and storytelling to broaden horizons and nurture dreams.
Storytelling for Underrepresented Communities
Recognising the power of stories to heal and connect, we delivered storytelling sessions tailored to underrepresented communities. Professional storytellers and volunteers collaborated to create inclusive and engaging experiences. These sessions served as safe spaces for participants to explore their identities, foster empathy, and find solace through shared narratives.
Challenges and Resilience
While the foundation made significant progress, challenges persisted, particularly in Cameroon. Displacement and school closures in English-speaking regions hindered some of our planned activities. Despite these obstacles, our team demonstrated resilience by adapting our programmes to meet the evolving needs of our beneficiaries. Virtual workshops and resource distribution initiatives ensured continuity of support during difficult times.
Limited fundraising opportunities also posed financial constraints. However, the unwavering dedication of our trustees and volunteers sustained our efforts, ensuring that our beneficiaries continued to receive the help they needed.
Looking Ahead
In 2024, Little Angels Foundation aims to:
-
Launch a vocational training centre to equip disadvantaged youth with practical skills.
-
Expand our creative writing and storytelling programmes to reach a broader audience.
-
Strengthen partnerships to enhance the distribution of educational resources in Cameroon and beyond.
Acknowledgements
We extend our deepest gratitude to our trustees, volunteers, and partners for their invaluable contributions and steadfast commitment. Your support empowers us to transform lives and create lasting change for the children and families we serve. Together, we continue to illuminate paths of hope and opportunity.
