year. ApFK)intment of the trustees Is governed by the Constltution of the charlty.
Investment powers
The Constitution authorise5 the management commlttee to make and hold Investments
Using the general funds of the charity• but no such investments are currently held.
Constltution, objects and pollcles
The Charitable Trust is constituted by Trust Deed, and its objects are to provide, or a551st in
the provision of facilitie5 for physlcal recreation of all kind5 for re51dents of Henfield and the
surrounding area. The management of the affairs of the association is directed by the
Management Committee in accordance with the terms of the Constitution of the
Association.
Development, actlvltles and achlevements
In respect of the year Covered by the financial statements, the management committee
consider that the performance of the charity has been sat15factory. The charity has been
able to meet its ongoing objective of providing recreational facilities to the local community.
In particular this report covers the first full year of the padel tennls. We opened two outside
covered padel courts in March 2025,. the project to construct the courts was led by the
trustees and management team. It Wa5 not without risk and at time5 challenging. We
secured funding in the form of loans from the Lawn Tennis Association, the Charlties Aid
Foundatlon and a grant from the UK Government through Hor5ham Dlstrlct Councll. The
setbacks and challenge5 were overcome and the padel court5 have been a great succes5.
There are over 900 players registered to play and we have a monthly usage of around 67%.
We have reached out to the local community and offered free sessions to schools and clubs,
The centre also offers coaching and mlxing sesslons along with tournament and box
leagues, The introduction of padel at the leisure centre has been a notable achievement; the
activity Eenerated income In excess of £160,000 in the year, 8 slgnifl¢ant contrlbutlon to
S115taining the future profltability of the leisure centre.
Flnancial revlew
The charity has made a profitlllossl for the year of £83,41712025- £27,762).
Charlty Governance Code
The Trustees seek to apply the principles of the Charity Governance Code as they relale to
the operations of the leisure cerltre.
Mezzanlne floor
The Henfield Communlty Partnership IHCPI previously received a grant from Horsham
District Council IHDCI to create a community safe space within Henfield to provide a facility
for teenager5 to Spend time after school. The leSsure centre was chosen to h05t the slte.

Henfield Lelsure Centre
Trustees, Report for the year ended 315t March 2026
The project was managed by HDC and the work was completed in Aprll 2025 at a total cost
of approxlmately £180,000. To create this space the area used by Children's club in the
leisure centre was adapted by building a mezzanine floor above the existing space
(essentially two adjoining squash courts with a hlgh roofl. This created a much-lmproved
facility for the Chlldren's club at no c05t to the leisure Cent￿ las it was all funded by the
grant). At the tlme, the trustees agreed that we should record the valuè of the improvement
at £80,000 as a grant in the Statement of Financial Attlvities as Restrlcted Funds, capitallse
the amount as a fixed asset and depreciate. Sometime after the completion it became clear
that the facility could not be run as intended, and following dialogue between HPC,
Hor5ham District Council and Simon Thompson Icentre managerl the lelsure centre was
granted unrestricted use of the community space. As such the Trustees have decided to
record the transaction at its full value to recognise the enhancement to our facilities and the
opportunity to derlve income from thls.
Fuiure development5
The trustees will continue to seek and exploit opportunilies to develop and enhance the
environment of the centre in a manner that IS 5U5tainable and does not jeopardi5e the
provision of the core activlties. In addition to the regular maintenance and improvement of
the centre's facilities, the trustee5 have approved the extension and refurbishment of the
Eym facilities. Thls wlll provide signiflcant benefit to the users of the centre and the lo¢al
community.
Reserves policy
Reserves are needed to bridge the gap between spending and receivlng income and to cover
unplanned emersen¢y repairs and other expendSture. The trustees ¢onsider the ideal level
of reserves at 31 March 2026 is £150,OCQ.
Risk management policy
The trustees annually review the risks and uncertainties that the charlty faces and have
e5tabllshed policies, systems and procedures to mitigate those risks.
Public beneflt statement
The trustees tonfirm that they have complled wlth the duty in Sectlon 4 of the Charities Act
2011 to have due regard to the Euidance published by the Charity Commission on public
benefit when reviewinE the charity's main alms and objectives in planning future activilie5.
