About Snap
Snap Foundation was established in 2015 by Graham Dodridge and Remy Whiting, driven by a shared passion for photography and the belief in its power to give disadvantaged children a voice. Through volunteer-led photography programs, Snap aims to inspire and educate children aged 10-16, providing them with a creative outlet to share their perspectives with the world.
Resumption of Activities
Following a period of inactivity resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and associated global travel restrictions, Snap Foundation is pleased to report the recommencement of charitable activity in early 2026. This marks the foundation’s first active project since operations were paused in 2020.
Uganda Photography Education Project
In March 2026, Snap Foundation will deliver a new photography education project in Uganda , focused on teaching fundamental photographic skills to young people in rural communities. The project aligns directly with Snap’s founding mission: to empower disadvantaged children by giving them the tools to tell their own stories through photography.
The programme will be led by two volunteer photography tutors travelling from the UK, working in collaboration with a local Ugandan travel writer and tourist guide who will provide cultural insight, logistical support, and local coordination. This partnership approach is designed to ensure the project is both culturally sensitive and practically effective.
Project Objectives
The Uganda project will focus on:
-
Introducing basic digital photography skills and camera handling
-
Teaching composition, storytelling, and visual observation
-
Encouraging self-expression and confidence through creative practice
-
Leaving behind usable equipment and learning materials where possible
The workshops will be delivered over several days, working with small groups of teenagers to ensure hands-on learning and meaningful engagement.
Significance of the Project
This initiative represents a pivotal moment for Snap Foundation:
-
It is the charity’s first active programme since the cessation of activities due to COVID-19
-
It reaffirms the trustees’ commitment to Snap’s original purpose
-
It provides a practical foundation for assessing future international projects
Future Outlook
Following completion of the Uganda project, the trustees will undertake a full review to assess impact, learning outcomes, and operational considerations. This evaluation will inform decisions on:
-
The feasibility of further international workshops
-
Potential sponsorship and equipment-donation models
-
The gradual reactivation of volunteer engagement and communications
Updates will be shared through the Snap Foundation website and social channels once the project has concluded and outcomes have been assessed.
The trustees remain committed to ensuring that Snap Foundation’s renewed activities are responsible, impactful, and true to the charity’s founding values.
