Tamil, Hindi & English. This year was particularly challenging as we admitted an additional 60 children from the local government school, when the school suddenly closed due to an unsafe building. The closure of the local government school was without warning, creating huge distress amongst the community. In this rural environment, where school attendance rates, particularly for girls, are already low,. Healthy Food –We support the Yogi Ashokananda Foundation’s food program, where they provide daily hot mails for the 12 adults in need. They were selected due to their varying degrees of disabilities and whom are overlooked by the government food schemes and their own families and communities. We continue to directly support the daily food program at the school for all students and faculty. Health Clinic - In partnership with Yogi Ashokananda Foundation, the health clinic, 20 metres from the school facilities, provides first aid services to the students and school staff. This facility also provides oversight on the children’s nutritional needs. Hearing Camp - In partnership with Yogi Ashokananda Foundation, MERF Institute from Chennai and the Rotary club, conducted 2 more hearing camps, building on the success from previous year. 120 pre-qualified people participated, all were tested and consulted by team of doctors and residents from MERF Institute onsite at Sita Devi Charity School and facilities. The team of doctors were supported onsite with Yogi Ashokananda Foundation team and with gracious sponsorship from Rotary Club and other grants organized by MERF, we were able to provide 65 people (adults and children) with hearing aid devices, improving their hearing, confidence and general wellbeing.
