**Annual Report 2020 – 2021** 

## **Our Mission:** 

The mission of the Scouts Sans Frontières™ is to provide impartial humanitarian aid and relief to the victims of war, disease, and natural or man-made disaster, without regard to race, religion, or political affiliation. 

## **Our Vision:** 

The vision of Scouts Sans Frontières™ is to achieve sustainable social, economic and environmental development in disaster or conflict zones by effectively responding to and recovering from all types of disasters events. 

## **What We Do** 

## **Operations** 

The operations phase is the period when international Scouts Sans Frontieres Teams are performing Scouts Sans Frontieres operations in the affected country. It starts with the arrival of a Scouts Sans Frontieres Team at the Reception/Departure Centre (RDC) in the affected country, registration with the UCC/OSOCC, reporting to the Local Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) (or National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)), and performing of Scouts Sans Frontieres operations. The phase ends when the Scouts Sans Frontieres Team is instructed to cease operations. 

## **Preparedness** 

The preparedness phase is the period between disaster responses. In this phase, Scouts Sans Frontieres Teams undertake preparatory measures to ensure that they are at the highest level of readiness for deployment as possible. Teams will conduct training and exercises, review lessons-learned from previous experiences, update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required, and plan future responses. 



## **Mobilisation** 

The mobilization phase is the period immediately following the occurrence of a disaster. International Scouts Sans Frontieres Teams prepare to respond and travel to assist the affected country. 

## **Demobilisation** 

The demobilization phase is the period when international Scouts Sans Frontieres Teams have ceased operations, commence withdrawal, coordinating their departure through the UCC/OSOCC, depart from the affected country through the RDC, and travel to their home country. 

## **Post-Mission** 

The post-mission phase is the period immediately after a Scouts Sans Frontieres Team has returned home. In this phase, the Scouts Sans Frontieres Team is required to complete and submit a post-mission report and conduct a lessons-learned review to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency for a response to future disasters. The post-mission phase continuously merges into the preparedness phase.

## **Report of the Executive Committee** 

The Executive Committee met on three occasions during the year. The meetings in March, June, September and December. Due to impact of Covid-19 all face2face activities were suspended. 

Mr Ergun Yurdagul has continued as Secretary and all members of the committee are grateful for his work. Mr Raymond Bodell has continued as Treasurer and has ensured that the Committee has been kept up to date with the financial positions of the Charity and other accounts. 

The Office in the Stoke Newington building has continued to support the Scout Movement. Additionally, the Secretary and the Administrator have continued to provide supportive advice to Groups for Headquarters in Turkey, Chile, India, Canada. In appropriate cases the Charity will make available financial resources to Groups for Headquarters building schemes. 

The chairman successfully registered the trademark for SCOUTS sans Frontières™ by Intellectual Property Office. The application was made on 18[th] June 2020 and finalised on 26[th] February 2021. The renewal date for the trademark is 18[th] June 2030. 

However the application for Scouts Without Borders application to register trademark received opposition from The Scout Association. Application was filed on 2[nd] March 2021 and pending for a decision by mid 2023. 

## **Website and mobile apps report** 

The new website design was implemented on 30[th] September 2021 together with elearning mobile applications for humanitarian help. 

New website includes online shop, elearning platform and news portal. 

## **E-learning** 

Scouts work to protect the peace and nature of the world. They produce policies in this objective and participate in project-based activities on the national or international scene. 

When educational activities in Scouts Sans Frontières™ countries, Scouts Sans Frontières™ member organizations form teams such as peacemakers consisting of Scouts over the age of 18, to bring the natural flow of life to an international community, to support campaigns, and to volunteer to help to the region. 

And those under 18 will help in community services in each of their countries, and those under 12 years will make good daily action on their action

The administrator and his group working with OCHA, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to build on the courses above towards to form a Search & Rescue team by end of 2023. 

## **News Portal** 

The administrator, Orhan Taymaz also completed specially designed website for Humanitarian help news site under https://www.scoutswithoutborders.org/ **news**

## **Online Store** 

The administrator also completed the online store https://www.scoutswithoutborders.org/shop/ 

The charity will aim to provide badges and other fundraising materials along with Humanitarian Aid supply, Search & Rescue materials to sell it on the website. 



Social Platform build during Covid-19 **International Scout Volunteer Group** 

Our administrator, Orhan Taymaz also formed a social platform for International Scout Volunteer Group (ISVG). ISVG was formed at the beginning of 2020 when adult scout leaders and guides from different countries and organizations who stayed at home during the Covid-19 pandemic communicated with each other on social media. 

The conversations between trained Scout Leaders from 7 countries led to the formation of ISVG; Dr. Dikpal Keshari Baidya from Canada, Dr. Vinutthaput Popet from Thailand, Mr. Raul Hernandez from the USA, Ms. Vida Kotarac from Serbia, Mr. Mounir Chaoui from Tunisia, Mr. Ashraf Osman Nsr from Egypt, and Mr. Shige Takahashi from Japan. 

They shared their scouting knowledge and experiences with each other that later turned into regular online conferences, training on subjects of interest to scouting, and in a short time, with the participation of many different countries, the movement reached thousands of Scouters. 

## **Financial Review:** 

Total receipts £22,000.00 - Total payments £21,807.00 

Total funds held in the bank at year end £193.00 

Charity trustees Mr E. Yurdagul and Mr M. Kilic personally donated total amount of £22,000. This amount has been spent to build three websites and 4 mobile apps that has been designated for future improvements and upgrade of the websites and mobile apps for post-covid. 

The Executive Committee would especially wish to thank all members of the staff and all voluntary helpers for their unstinting support during the last year.
