Annual Report for residents 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025
It has been another busy year at the Spitler maintaining and improving the building and garden, dealing with health and safety and equipment inspections; organising and running events and managing hire of the premises and continuing our cooperative relationship with St. Luke's.
Regular events organised throughout the year were the weekly Wednesday afternoon social, and monthly events including the Quiz night, the Film night and the litter pick. Our annual Christmas and Easter celebration events were well attended and local businesses and Bowmer and Kirkland were very generous in donating much appreciated raffle prizes.
Two recent events that have become very popular are the annual Burns Night event and the Wine Tasting event. Both these events require an entrance fee to cover some of the costs of the refreshments.
It would not be possible to run any of these events without the input of volunteers who give their time and expertise freely. Special thanks to you all for your help throughout the year. You know who you are.
Spital Tongues Community Association (STCA) is not in receipt of any regular financial grants. The majority of our income is the fees received from hirers of the building. However we are particularly pleased to announce Spital Tongues now has a defibrillator installed outside Little Nino’s. This was initiated by the Community Centre making application and paying half the £1500 cost of the defibrillator and a London Charity (London Hearts) covering the other half. We also paid for the defibrillator to be installed and give thanks to Little Nino’s for agreeing to have it installed outside their premises.
