## **Annual report for residents April 2023 – March 2024** 

## **Looking after the centre, building improvements and maintenance** 

Repairs to blinds, toilets, kitchen sink leak, garden fence posts, front door handle, radiator valve in women’s toilet 

## New chairs purchased 

Plants for the garden bought, paid gardener to clear then volunteers kept garden tidy, hanging basket and trellis removed and benches painted with special thanks to Jeremy. 

Doormats replaced 

Notice board replaced outside and planning noticeboard inside 

Rehung maps of the village 

New hand driers installed in the toilets 

Monthly cleaning of the centre organised following regular ‘big clean’ sessions by some trustees 

## Outdoor painting completed 

Annual health and safety inspection was excellent with only one issue (yet to be resolved) of the tree overhanging the centre. 

Fire extinguisher inspection 

Smart TV bought and installed, we have a TV licence 

Compliance officer visit to check electrical and gas certification 

New LED lighting in the centre 

Defibrillator purchased with help from a charity 

Kitchen floor replaced 

Outdoor store for garden equipment purchased and great fun building it at a social 

Tabards bought for the litter picking group 

Replacement child safety gate sorted for the kitchen. 

## **Management of the centre** 

Purchase of a community centre phone 

Updated terms of hire 

Agreed we would not take one-off bookings for bank holidays 

Sky broadband installed 



First aid training planned and undertaken by 3 trustees and others. 

## **Events in the centre and community involvement** 

Leaflet prepared and delivered across village 

Meeting held to discuss volunteering and trustee recruitment was successful 

Very well attended AGM 

And all insurances covered too 

Wednesday social every week continues successfully and supported by volunteers who bring food and flowers, then help to clean up and plan events in the centre. 

Special events for Easter and Christmas also very well attended and successful. Thanks to Cosy Dove, Little Ninos, Londis and those involved in the university development for raffle prizes. 

The Burns Night event was a real highlight with so many thanks to Joyce, Raymond and Vicky for all their hard work in making that such a success. 

Quiz nights began before the end of December and have taken place each month run by volunteers with well attended and successful participation.  Thanks to Jackie and Martin for helping make these so successful. 

The monthly litter pick continues successfully, followed by a cuppa and discussions about the centre. 

Bingo meets every two weeks with good prizes shared and run by volunteers. Thanks to Sandra and Peter. 

The centre is booked by a range of others for private events, children’s parties and barbeques in the garden. 

The trustees place on record thanks to those local residents who help to ensure events are well attended and in many cases volunteers run events.  The centre relies on volunteers and we extend huge thanks to those involved.
