Audley Community Centre Chairman’s Report December 2024

Not a good start to the year; we eventually accepted that the company from whom we had ordered replacement chairs had declared themselves bankrupt leaving us very far down on a long list of creditors. It was decided that we would have no alternative other than to re-purchase as we had little or no chance of recouping the money already paid and having to account for an unbudgeted additional expense in excess of £4000. This was made even more difficult by the fact that the original company was once again trading with a change of directors, something that we could do nothing about or to whom we had no recall.

As we do not feel that there was anything we could have done to avoid this happening, we were very cautious when reordering. Fortunately, the alternative company used were excellent and we are very pleased with the replacements.

Despite this, we did manage to show a profit for the year due entirely to the ‘Attic’, our charity shop, activities and to bank interest on our accumulated savings.
