The Chair welcomed the trustees to the meeting
Over the period the charity continued to develop its service delivery provision. In line with the objectives of the Charity which are:
The relief of poverty in the City of Salford by providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and/or charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
Throughout this year the Charity further developed the free of charge equipment loan service of mobility aids, mainly wheelchairs for those who do not qualify under statutory provision and cannot afford to buy equipment or need to use equipment for a relatively short length of time.
**In the calendar year Jan until December 2021, 540 separate items of mobility equipment were delivered to people who live in Salford free of charge. There were 675 new clients, referrals from hospital. The charity has received donated equipment to the value of circa £8k, a large amount from the fire service who no longer carry out this work and was surplus to requirements. which has been recycled back into service and currently have 302 wheelchairs in circulation** .
The service also works with other charities and raises money for them by collecting unsold items from their charity shops and weighing them in for cash. Also obtains goods for the shops for them to sell for their own charitable cause. Circa £3k was raised for other charities in this year.
HH Community is a service-based Charity and funding is derived by donation only and the support of Swinton Community Business Salford Limited a not-for-profit company trading as Helping Hands.
The Chair and Board were re-elected.
