After 10 years as a trustse, and nlne a$ Chalr, we bade a fond farewell to Charle$ Edwards, whoso vision,
business acumen, erudlllon aTKI networklng ablllty helped Grow Cook Leam to Come as far as It has. Charfes
ha8 been a great ambas8ador for the charity and for the Discovery Centre and we thank him for hls many years
of dgdlcatsd Se￿ICe. We also welcomed In Clare Featherslone a5 Chalr and Rlchard Colemen as Vic&Chalr
and their combined experlence, enthuslasm and drive meant the transltlon went ahead smoothly and a now 5-
y8ar stralegy now informs our dlrectlon of travel In Ihe new era.

Educatlon Manager. Stephanie Bellows, schools programme was very well attended. and in this period, there

The Onny Meadows Group conlinued, under lan Cheeseborough's supervision, to lake on a huge amount of
landscape and nalure rocovèry work In the meadows. We also saw a growing number of volunleers carrying out

our wondarful volunteer$ for the huge contribution Ihey makè lo the Centre.
We also liaised wilh 8o¢lal pre$crlbers to provide volunleering tallored to people in kjng.temi unempk)yment or
those Ilvlng with low level mantal health Issues.
We lake prlde in supporting younger volunteers on thelr journeys too and th1$ year we took on two work
experlence students from Ludlow and Church Stretton Schools, as well as three Duke of Edinburgh students who
undertook Iheir volunleering placements wlth us.
Volunteerlngls a greal way to meet new people, glve something back to youi ¢ommunlty and to learn new ski115
and galn confidence and we know our volunleers gel a great deal from working alongslde the staff team. We
work hard to ensure our Volunte8￿ have a fulfilllng experience with u5 and as a speclal Ihank you this year, the
volunteers enjoyed a celebratlon Chrfstmas lunch al the Centre.

Yet again, our events programme was a very succe$$ful part of our operatlon, generatlno record 8ale$ of 0￿r
£49K. Th8 programme was dominated by our big fundralsing 8vents- the SW80K walking f8Stival and our
famous Bonfire and Fireworks display.
The year began. as it always does. with Ihe SW8OK which, following one of the wettest winters on record. was a
soggy affair yet again but incr8dibly our runn8rs and walkers (most of them at least) seemed lo enjoy their trawl
through the knee-daep mud. Although there was no sponsor on board and the weather ¢aused some additional
cost$. the event pertomied well and generated a considerable contribulion to the charilvs coffers.
