The trustees present their annual report along with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31* March 2025. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 using the receipts and payments basis.
Structure, Governance and Management
Vine Community Church is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with The Charity Commission on 1 October 2014. The activities of Vine Community Church were originally undertaken by an unincorporated charity, The Vine Community Church, registered number 1142056. The activities were transferred over to the Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 1 January 2015.
The charity is administered in accordance with the constitution adopted on 1* October 2014.
As set out in the constitution, trustees are appointed by the trustee board. In selecting individuals for appointment, the trustee board must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
The charity’s trustees are listed on page 1.
Objectives and Activities The objects of the charity are as follows:-

(a) To advance the Christian faith and values for the benefit of the public in accordance with the statement of belief of the Evangelical Alliance.

(b) To promote increased wellbeing and quality of life, including better integration into the community and crime reduction. To do this by developing recreational activities for the public at large or those who by reason of their youth, infirmity, disablement or social or economic circumstances have need of such activities.

(c) To promote increased wellbeing and quality of life, including better integration into the community and personal support. To do this by developing a supportive social environment in which individuals can engage with the Christian faith and values of the organisation.

(d) To support the advancement of education and physical wellbeing of individuals and communities in developing countries, by the provision of financial aid and other such services, through other existing charitable organisations as may from time to time be appropriate. To do this with the purpose of helping such people develop sustainable healthy and productive lifestyles.

(e) To support the advancement of education and training, particularly among the young unemployed and socially disadvantaged of the locality. To provide those seeking employment with work experience and training opportunities for the purpose of helping such people to find employment and better integrating them into the community.

(f) To support such charitable actions as may from time to time be determined by the trustees.

The trustees seek to achieve the charity’s objectives by undertaking the following activities:Organising events, groups, courses and days out. - Attending conferences and events. - Arranging sponsored activities to raise funds.
When planning activities to be undertaken by the charity, the trustees give due consideration to the guidance published by the charity commission on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance
In respect of objective (a):-
-
The Vine Community Church has held regular Sunday services throughout the year. To supplement in person services, the majority of services are live-streamed, and the recordings are published as on demand recordings. This is to benefit those who are unable to attend an ‘in person service’. Live casts of the service have been provided along with on demand recordings.

| The church has run mid-week groups focusing on fellowship, pastoral care, teaching and wellbeing.

- Weekly online corporate prayer sessions have taken place that are open to all believers and have been attended by members of other churches within the villages and the city. Other prayer meetings have run throughout the year.

- The church has run specific outreach activities including the ‘Being Human, and ‘Experiencing God, course for those exploring faith and wanting a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and values.

- The church has remained an active member of the Ground Level Network of Churches and has attended online conferences and meetings organised by each Network. In addition, the church is a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

- The church is an active member of the Greater Lincoln Active Faith Network which seeks to reach out into the community through various social outreach projects.

- Discrete ecumenical events have been organised with other churches in the locality to provide a Christian emphasis on Lent, Easter and Christmas events including Easter reflections, a ‘walk of witness’ and Community Carols. These events have been open to all and attended by the wider community.
In respect of objective (b):-

A Saturday afternoon event for younger children (‘That Saturday Thing’) takes place on one Saturday afternoon a month. It is available to all primary school-aged children in the locality and again combines a mix of fun and games with Christian teaching. This event has been well attended and continues to grow serving the community.

- As an extension of this the church provided a range of children’s activities at the Village Community Picnic and community Harvest Service.

- A term-time weekly, youth drop-in event has been established that is open to year 6 to year 13 pupils from the locality. - The church runs a uniform exchange to support families with financial challenges to access education in local schools. This covers the local secondary school and the three primary schools in the triplet of villages we serve.

- The church continues its work with people who are affected by dementia, through a dedicated midweek group for those living with dementia and their carers.

- To foster increased wellbeing in the wider community the church has provided a wellbeing space and group that operates for the benefit of the wider community including crafts, meditation, and a safe space ‘to be’.
In respect of objective (c):-

The church continues to run the local library service in Cherry Willingham. This service has operated during much of the reporting period.

The church has continued to organise a monthly book club which is attended by both church and non-church members.

- Church members continue to provide support to individuals who are elderly or unwell, both via the telephone and through one-to-one visits.

The church has continued to administer a community service, Assist, which provides one-to-one support and help to a large number of vulnerable people, including people who are in debt, people who are lonely, and people who are suffering from mental ill-health or other disabilities.

- The church has run specific outreach activities for those exploring faith and wanting a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and values.
In respect of objective (d):-
- The church has continued to support the work of the New Life Homes Trust in Kenya, which looks after abandoned children and runs educational programmes for children in different parts of Kenya.
In respect of objective (e):-

The church has also offered direct one-to-one practical support, information, and advice to some young people regarding work and future career planning and has offered a small number of young people practical opportunities for developing new skills by providing work experience in the local community library run by the church.

- The church has provided practical experience opportunities to university students who wish to develop their experience working alongside recipients of the church’s Assist service.

The church has also provided other opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds to become involved in volunteering. Some 24 volunteers have been involved in the running of Assist and 16 volunteers are currently involved in running the library service and 10 volunteers have been involved with the youth work.

The Vine Community Church has contributed financially to the Ground Level Network of Churches and to the charitable projects supported by it.

The church has financially contributed to the Open Doors organisation to support their work with the persecuted church overseas.
Financial Review
The financial performance and position of the charity is adequately reflected in the financial statements for the year ended 318* March 2025. The charity has effective processes in place to ensure that it administers its finances wisely and the organisation is in a good position to maintain its charitable duties and functions into the year ahead.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF VINE COMMUNITY CHURCH for the Year Ended 31st March 2025
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31* March 2025 which are set out on pages6 to 8.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Included within salaries for the year ended 31‘ March 2025 is an amount of £5,874 (2024 - £5,572) relating to a stipend paid to a trustee in respect of their work as the senior pastor of Vine Community Church. Also included within salaries for the year ended 31*t March 2025 is an amount of £18,590 (2024 - £17,799) paid to a trustee in relation to their work as the Assist Project coordinator.
4. Gift Aid Claims
At 31% March 2025 the charity had gift aid claims of £3,951 (2024 - £3,315) recoverable from HM Revenue & Customs.

6. Purpose of Funds
The Assist Dementia Support Fund provides support for individuals affected by dementia through a dementia support group, which also provides some coordination support for volunteers and clients in existing one-to-one and signposting roles aligned to this user group. The funding was provided by The National Lottery Community Fund.
The Assist Mental Health and Wellbeing Community Investment Fund provides support for people over the age of 18 through projects that demonstrate the promotion of positive lifestyles and reduces the risk of self-harm and suicides. The funding was provided by Lincolnshire County Council.
The Assist One-to-One Support and Wellbeing Group Fund provides support for vulnerable people, including people who are lonely and people who are suffering from mental ill-health or other disabilities. The funding was provided by West Lindsey District Council.
The Library Fund provides funding to run a library service and for the provision of the building as a community accessible service.
