The board of trustses should comprlse of no less than 3 and no more than 12 members. If the
number falls below this mlnlmum, the remaining trustee or truslees may act only to call a meetlng
of the charity truste8s, or appolnt a new charity trustee. All trustees apart from the first trusiees
must be appolnted for a term of 5 years by a resolutlon at a properly convened meetlng of the
charity trustees.
The appointed representstlve of the statutory and other organlsatlons which provide funding for the
CIO may appoint up to 2 representatives ( no subslltutions allowed) who shall not be employees
of these bodies. Employed officers of those bodles may attend as approprlate but shall not be

the operations and finances of the charlty, and are satisfled that systems and procedur88 are in place to

disadvantaged groups that enable people to be seen and heard. This is done by:

Formed in 2015 People Expre8s Is the only professional communty arts organlsation in Soulh Derbyshire.
It Is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation managed by a board of trustees. It prevlously existed as an
Unlcorporated Assoclatlon (charity number 1005753) from 1990 to 2015.
People Expr888 pri0rf1188 work with groups that fac6 barri8rs lo particlpatlng In the arts, providing advice,
8UPPOrt wlth fundraising and access to a wide range of artlsts, equipment and materials.
Community groups and professional artists are brought together to develop projects that offer artlstlc
experiences that enable people lo be seen and heard.

A wide range of aGtlvltles took plac8 durlng the year. All actlvltles were undertaken to further the charlty's
charitable purposes. The charlty truslees have ensured that all the actlvltles were for publSc benefit in
accordance with the Charity Commission's guldance.

Monies have been Invested durlng the year, in accordance with the powers available to the trustees. The
charlty assets are available and adequate to fulfil its obligatlons.
People express has maintained a high level of artistlc output during the year engaging both hard to reach
groups as well as the more general public in events, exhibitions and workshop programrnes.

$u$tainable changes across our programmes and through peer support, help young people who

workshops are informal (cafes style} and there Is always a CFF - a Constant Frlendly Face. a
worker thal 18 present at all sesslon8 to support partlclpants.
We contlnue to Co-produce arts workshops with adults with low confidence, supporting skills
development so they increasingly lake on the running of the projecl.

possible, of all shapes and slzes, details of which can b8 found on our websSte at

South Derbyshlr8 has hugé challenges In terms of supporting thelr young people to overcome
being the most at rlsk In England of not achlevlng soclal mobility through education (Sutton
Report 2015). Our work with young people Is as broad, dlverse and ambitious a8 they are
themselves. We organlse trIp8 to leading galleries, museums and theatres to broaden thelr
experiences. W• provide opportunltles for young people to galn an Arts Award.
We alm to provlde our young people with opportunltles of working with tha countys leadlng
artists, supporting them to develop thelr own creative ideas and pursue their creatlve ambltlons.
As wlth all our work, diversity is key. South Derbyshlre Is a predomlnately Whit8 British area and
our work alms to be held up as proactivdy encouraglng greater awareness, respect and
understanding, embracing difference and dlversity.

Natlonal Portfollo Programme 8ecurtng fundlng untll March 2027 wllh an upllft of over £35,000 which more
than compensatés for the loss of Derbyshire County Cour£ll fundlng for 2023 onwards. It Is dependent on us
expanding some of our worf( Into East Staffordshire. South Dert)yshira Distrfct Councll conllnues lo provlde
fundlng on a yeaty basls and we have Just 81gned a 3 year seNl¢e level agreement with them.

The trustees have establ19￿d the level of reseryes (that is Ihose funds that are freety avallable) that
the charlty ought to have. Reserves ar8 needed to ensure that th8 day to day OP8ration of the
