Annual General Meeting

Chairman’s Report for 2020/ 2021

Ladies and gentlemen last year was terrible! I don’t have a good word to say about 2020 except give thanks that we are alive as so many members from our community have died.

Lockdown has been crippling and while COVID is still here we need to be mindful and take all the necessary precautions to keep ourselves and our community safe.

As you are aware we did not have AGM last year nevertheless I completed and submitted the annual Charity return.

We received two grants from SCC for which I am thankful as without this our finance would have been severely stretched.

There are some preliminaries so here goes

I have made arrangements to have the ground floor sanitised on a monthly basis

We have a thermometer to test members I would advise everyone to test regularly as advised and follow the Government instructions I must say that sometimes I am confused as this seem to change with the wind.

Please refrain from using the outside

I have placed restrictive tapes around the patio area for health and safety reasons

We were promised that work would start on the building in 2020 but COVID put a stop to that. I have been told that there needs to be another round of bids as prices of materials have increased!

There has been an enquiry from West Itchen Trust regarding funds which we hold. I have explained that we do hold a small amount of money which we plan to use as our contribution towards the building the downstairs renovation.

The committee feel that we should keep this money until we are sure of a date when work will start.

Windrush

Apparently there are funds for compensation so you need to look into this to see if you qualify and apply

Membership

It was decided that members should not pay this this year but that we should have a fresh start in January 2022

There have been a few projects that members are asked to participate in

Black Archives

Cancer prevent project are two that I have been ask to be a part of

NHS Keep the NHS public

Jackie and Berthlyn came up with the lovely idea that we cook and enjoy a meal together once a monthly

It was so good how we kept in touch with each other during lockdown

I would like to thank everyone for their support and hope that we enjoy a better year or what is left of it
