2021 saw the continuation of anothet on]￿e initiative called kniptutal Rea50ning Across Bordcrs. This ptoject
wa5 estabjished by two Giogko Fellows Ooel Pierce and Doaa Baullll) in 2020 to provide undewaduates in
the UK and Egypt with an opportunity to ellgage in iXLterf2ith and incerculttwal d￿lOgUe. Sii sessions in 2021
saw the completion of the initiai phase of the project. The 20215e5sion5 were attended by 2 totsl of 40
pxrticipating srudent5, approximately bait of whom werc from the UK xnd hail from Egypt. Feedback was
oveDxhelu]Angly positive ￿th the studcnts wccInent thar the pEogtanJxnc had ￿l￿de thern excited about being
involved in simil#t groups in the future. The project P2tameters were widened ill the second half of the year with

This onping projcct, of which Gingko is the ptitnaty sponsor, 15 a first scholxdy attempt at a cotnprehensive
understanding of the 5igmficance of the Treary of L2usanne (1923). Devdoped and convened by Dr Jonathan
Conlin and Dt Ozan Ozavffj the first workshop was held otiline in 20212nd involved 21 scholats frotn Notth
Arneric4 Europe and Turkey. The scholats di5CUSsed the (￿St drafts of theit pipers on The Forgottea Peace?
The Iausanne Conference and the New Middle East. 1922-23,. These were filrther discussed at a workshop in
2022 and be ptesented at a conference iti 2023. witb a volulne of essays published by Gingko in the sarne

in Islamic Studi¢s publishillg. Thc keynote speakers were Professor Kiaus von Stosch (University of Bonn) and
Professor Mun# Tatati (University of Paderbom). Together they presented and then lead 2 discussioa on their

In total 24 Fdlows p#rtiCiEYated. Qualitative feedback from the Fellows su￿Sted 20 increased confidence in
exptessing idexs in an academic envirollmenL a greater awareness of the wide r2nge of academic work
happw in Christian theolw, Islamic srndies and interfaith sttldies. a better understandjng of the academic
publishmg process. a deeper knowledge of the way 1519m and Christianity address figures who appear in both

of the environment (a particularly topical theme with Egypt hosting COP27 in 2022). heEit2gc preservation
