Para 1.20	During the 2024/25 financial year, POWAA UK made significant progress in advancing its charitable objective of promoting education and supporting the welfare of current students at the Prince of Wales School, Kingtom, Sierra Leone. The year was marked by the successful celebration of the school's centenary and the Association's 40th anniversary, providing an opportunity to deliver a lasting legacy for present and future generations of pupils. The charity enhanced educational opportunities by expanding its scholarship and mentoring programme. The number of beneficiaries increased from 10 to 23 students through the generosity of donors, enabling more pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to receive financial assistance, guidance and career mentoring. The mentoring programme continues to support students' personal development and aspirations, with one mentee, Rashid Sullay, captaining Sierra Leone's team at the VEX IQ Robotics Competition in the USA, demonstrating the positive impact of sustained educational support. In support of the wider school community, the charity donated approximately 3,000 school ties to every registered pupil, contributed £12,350 towards the purchase of 100 brass band instruments, and donated the equivalent of £2,500 towards the development of a multi- sport complex. These investments have enhanced school identity, enriched

extracurricular opportunities, and improved facilities that will benefit current and future students. The charity continued to strengthen partnerships with the Prince of Wales School, its Board of Governors, alumni organisations and local representatives in Sierra Leone. These collaborations enabled the effective delivery of scholarships, mentoring and other educational initiatives while ensuring resources reached intended beneficiaries. Additional support was provided through the donation of stationery to the school, continuing a four-year commitment to improving learning resources for pupils. The launch of the Association's new website also strengthened communication with members, donors and stakeholders, helping to promote engagement and future fundraising. The charity successfully organised several fundraising and community events throughout the year, including the Centenary Dinner and Dance, Summerfest, Skool Daze Jamboree, a new musical concert and the annual Thanksgiving Service. These events generated income, strengthened alumni engagement and increased awareness of the charity's work, helping to secure continued support for its educational programmes. Membership also increased to 155 registered members, strengthening the Association's capacity to deliver its charitable objectives. Overall, the charity's activities have improved educational opportunities, increased access to mentoring and financial support, enhanced school facilities and resources, strengthened alumni engagement, and contributed to the long-term development of young people attending the Prince of Wales School. Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
