My aspiration is to get as**
**many**
**Princewaleans on board to join the ranks**
**as we celebrate this once in a lifetime**
**occasion, but more importantly it is for**
**us to leave a legacy to our beloved Prince**
**of**
**Wales, Kingtom which will benefit pupils**
**and the school for years to come.**
**The first year has flown by and there has**
**been greater collaboration with the GLC**
**and especially OPWA Freetown. **CURRENT POWAA SUPPORT PROGRAMMES 1. Scholarships - POWAA UK has provided scholarships to current POW pupils for several years. In the 2023/2024 and 2024/25 school years, 10 pupils benefited from the scheme. Each scholarship is worth £100 (total of £2000 over two years). Special thanks to all those who have donated to the scholarship scheme 2. Mentorship - The POWAA mentorship scheme currently works with 10 POW students who are sponsored by the association. The scheme aims to motivate, encourage and guide students in their career pathway. It is not about offering financial support. Each student is currently mentored by a someone from the Association. All mentors must operate within POWAA UK & Ireland Safeguarding Policy and are DBS checked. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Hazell Shokellu - Thompson, Rev Ian Luke-Macauley and all the mentors who are successfully driving this scheme. 3. Our latest contributions have been the payment of £10000 towards the Prince of Wales Brass Band to purchase instruments. Thanks to the members who donated to this project. We will also be contributing to the legacy multi sports complex. POWAA- UK will donate 2500 ties to the Centenary Celebrations Committee (CCC). The ties will be donated to the current pupils (2000) and the CCC (500). All proceeds from the sale of the ties from the ties donated to the CCC will go towards the multi sports complex. COLLABORATIONS We continue to collaborate with all alumni chapters and The Prince of Wales School Alumni Foundation (POWSAF) and the Board of Governors of the school and stakeholders to work on projects to help the school and to pursue our core objective of advancing education of current and future Princewaleans. It was through the help of the Chair of the Board of Governors that we were able to revive our scholarship and mentoring scheme. Thanks to the Chair of the Board, Sulaiman Rahman Kamara, Dr**

**Alex Blanshard and all the staff at the school who made this happen. MEMBERSHIP As we approach our Centenary, we look to increase our membership. We had 154 registered for 2023/24. This includes 15 new members joining our ranks. This is an increase of 22 members from the 132 confirmed members at the start of the prior reporting period. I once again encourage all Princewaleans to join us. Thanks to Ibrahim Jalloh and Remmie Akibo - Betts for the stellar work they are doing. PASTORAL The Pastoral officers and team effectively performed their role diligently and with compassion in the long-standing tradition of the Prince of Wales School, Kingtom. They conducted several pastoral visits and made representations when called upon to do so. They also provided support to the Association pre- and postThanksgiving services. Thanks to the Pastoral officers Benson Strasser - Williams and Dr Mohamed Kamara and all those who have supported them. FUNDRAISING EVENTS We have been able to stage our regular events starting with the Skool Daze Jamboree in Croydon in November last year. This was followed by our Thanksgiving Service which was held in Manchester in May 2024 and a Meet and Greet Event the day before. The final event in our calendar year in July 2024 was Summerfest. I am pleased to report that all events produced a surplus. Thanks to our Organising Secretaries Reginald Massaquoi and Tamba Ngegba and all who have supported them. APPRECIATION Thank you to my predecessor, Mr Norman Thompson for his contribution and support during my first year of the presidency. Special thanks to my Vice president, Mr Donald Hanciles for your unwavering**

**support. You have been an invaluable partner especially as you went through your health challenges, but you were always there to support me. Thanks also go the General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, Mr Randolph Pratt and Mr Henry Sawyerr for producing the minutes on time. To the Trustees and Executive, thank you for your guidance, wisdom and invaluable insights that have been indispensable in shaping our decisions. Thank you to our Freetown Representatives, Dr Lucien Turay and Dr Alex Blanshard for giving up their time to ensure that our community in Sierra Leone is kept updated with the association’s work. To our members, thank you for your loyalty and tenacity throughout the year and for your trust in us as an Executive team. As members, by choosing to be a part of this esteemed Association, we owe it to ourselves to be wholly responsible for maintaining the integrity of our organisation and protecting our reputation. Communication, teamwork and mutual respect are vital to the continued existence and success of the Association. We are here to serve and make a difference to our beloved school and the pupils. My continued prayer is for peace and unity to continue to prevail and that we continue to keep a niche within our hearts for Prince of Wales, Kingtom.**
