Trustees’ Report

Objectives and activities:

Our aim is to share the life-changing love of Jesus in and around Chipping Norton.

Our charitable objectives as set out in our governing document are as follows:

The advancement of the Christian faith, including: -

(1) the advancement of Christ’s kingdom by the faithful teaching of the scriptures at St Mary’s Church Chipping Norton and in the region and by the recruitment, education, training and sending of gospel ministers whether paid or unpaid around the United Kingdom and abroad to establish and renew Christian churches and ministries related thereto.

(2) to provide support to youth workers and others working with the elderly and families in evangelistic teaching and other pastoral work.

(3) to provide support for religious education in accordance with the Christian faith in schools, Sunday schools, classes, seminars, lectures and conferences.

(4) the relief of need, hardship, physical or mental distress; including support for those with problems of unemployment and re-employment.

(5) the support of Christians who are persecuted by reason of their faith in the context of the work of St Mary’s Church Chipping Norton provided always that such support shall be nonpolitical in nature.

(6) the support of Christians who are engaged full-time in the missionary work of proclaiming the gospel and in bringing others to believe in Jesus Christ and to live in accordance with his teaching.

We have previously employed Youth, Children’s and Families Workers and Outreach Workers to support the work of St. Mary’s Church, Chipping Norton but our current activities are restricted to making grants to support the work of the church with Youth, Children and Families.

The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. All of our charitable activities focus on benefitting the public in and around Chipping Norton.

In particular our grants contribute towards the employment costs of St Mary’s’ Youth, and Children & Families Pastors, enabling the church to engage more constructively with children, young people and families in our community, supporting them both in their faith journeys and practically. These measures ensure that the Charity is of benefit to a significant number of people locally.

Achievements and Performance:

Our charity provides grants to facilitate the work of St Mary’s Church, Chipping Norton with youth, children and families, serving the children and young people within both our church and wider community.

The Chipping Norton Area Christian Trust works closely with two other charities; The Branch Trust, Chipping Norton (1191055) and St. Mary’s Church, Chipping Norton (1132070) and often activities that are supporting by our grants are of a joint nature, with additional resources being provided by the other charities.

Youth Work:

As in previous years, activities delivered or supported financially by CNACT include Sunday morning sessions and Friday evening Small Groups. 1-1 discipleship also continues with a small number of teenagers.

The youth were enabled to enjoy a wonderful weekend away, incorporating fun, games, worship, teaching and prayer. Plans are already well underway for another in the coming year.

Remix, our weekly Friday afternoon Youth Club has continued with approximately 35 young people attending each week during term-time.

Children’s work:

Support continued for the families associated with St. Mary’s Church and from Chipping Norton more widely, (including regular Sunday morning sessions and Wednesday morning ‘Minis’ (carer and toddler group), as well as some more social gatherings to help restore relationships interrupted by Covid.
