2023 – 2024 proved to be a year of mixed emotions for Mushakata Fellowship Group (MFG) UK. In the early months of the year, the Fellowship was deeply saddened by the loss of Mrs Chipo Sisimayi, one of the founding Trustees of MFG. As a highly respected member of the Fellowship, her legacy of philanthropy and compassion had a profound impact on numerous families, communities, and religious denominations in both the UK and Zimbabwe, where she was laid to rest. While those affected are slowly coming to terms with the void left behind, it is clear that filling her shoes will be an arduous task. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family.

Around the same time as Mrs Sisimayi's passing, a joint pilgrimage to the Land of the Bible, including Mount Sinai in Egypt, was undertaken by pilgrims from the UK and Zimbabwe. Like previous participants, those involved in this journey experienced the Bible coming to life, leading to a deeper spiritual awakening and a strengthened faith in God.

As usual, the small group of attendees at the Cefn Lea Retreat in Wales greatly benefited from the nourishment of Bible teachings, which not only helped shape them into better citizens but also left them feeling rejuvenated and uplifted.

Additionally, a highly successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held during the first week of August, as is customary. This gathering provided members with an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in the previous year and discuss any necessary changes to the Trustees and MFG Constitution, which would later be formalised with the Charity Commission.

At the start of the calendar year, in January 2024, MFG members dedicated time to pray for all aspects of the organisation's business and activities in the upcoming year.

The year concluded with a Leadership's Away Day for Training and Strategic Planning, as well as a pastoral visit to Glasgow by three members of the leadership team and their spouses, who generously used their own resources for the trip. We hope you will find the rest of the Report enjoyable.

1 Summary of Main Achievements During Year 202 Summary of Main Achievements During Year 2023 3 - 202 2024': 4 :

During the year in review, we had an impressive total of 61 worship service meetings, surpassing the previous year's count of 57. Out of these, 48 Gospel preaching services were conducted over Zoom, allowing us to reach a wider audience and spread the message of faith.

For the remaining 13 occasions, we gathered physically at different venues to worship together. The majority of these meetings took place at Holy Cross Church in Milton Keynes, with 10 gatherings held there. Additionally, we had one meeting at Cefn Lea in Wales, and two meetings at Hove Methodist Church in Brighton and Letchworth Garden City Church in Stevenage for the "Home-going" service in memory of the late Mrs Chipo Sisimayi.

The Milton Keynes meetings were vibrant and diverse, encompassing Bible studies, prayers for various needs, uplifting songs, and powerful Gospel preaching by MFG guest ministers. These physical gatherings provided a unique opportunity for members to fellowship with one another, as emphasized in Hebrews 10:25 – "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together."

Within these worship services, worshippers found encouragement through sharing testimonies of the remarkable things the Lord had done for them. They also supported one another by shouldering each other's burdens, exemplified through hospital visits when members fell ill. In times of bereavement, they offered comfort and solace to those who were grieving. Moreover, they grew together in their understanding of Jesus Christ's teachings, which revolve around loving God with all their hearts and loving their neighbours as themselves, among other valuable lessons.

Our very first Milton Keynes meeting of the calendar year took place on January 13th, 2024. It was a dedicated time of prayer, focusing on MFG activities for the upcoming year. This act of prayer was akin to preparing the fields before planting, envisioning a bountiful harvest. The prayers encompassed a wide range of needs, including families, church affairs, leadership, world peace, the nations, and the Great Commission.

1 The valuable contributions made by Committee Member Trymore Nyahunzwi are duly recognised and acknowledged in this Report.

On Friday 26th May 2023, a sombre day descended upon us as we bid farewell to one of the esteemed founding Trustees of MFG. The passing of the remarkable Mrs Chipo Sisimayi left a void in our hearts, but her memory will forever shine brightly. During her funeral services, countless witnesses attested to her unwavering valour and unwavering integrity. Her benevolent deeds left an indelible mark on the lives of many, touching not only her family, relatives, and community members but also individuals from various church denominations, both in the UK and Zimbabwe.

Following her demise in the UK, Mrs Sisimayi's mortal remains were repatriated to Zimbabwe, where she was laid to rest with the utmost honour befitting her contributions. The Zimbabwe Defence Forces paid tribute to her by bestowing upon her a military funeral, recognizing her significant role in the war that led to Zimbabwe's independence in April 1980.

Beyond her remarkable achievements, Mrs Sisimayi was renowned for her

profound biblical teachings and captivating sermons. She possessed a generous spirit, personally extending her support to the less fortunate. Moreover, she possessed a unique ability to bring people together, fostering harmony and unity

among all.

In the United Kingdom, six bereavement services were held to console the grieving family she left behind. The void left by her departure will be deeply felt, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A total of eighteen individuals attended the conference. Throughout the four-day duration, attendees were immersed in uplifting Bible teachings presented by four devout preachers. Worship through song was a significant part of the event, as well as moments devoted to prayer and sharing testimonies of God's blessings. Men and women also took the opportunity to form separate groups for deeper discussions on their personal journeys of faith. Additionally, participants enjoyed valuable fellowship time, fostering both social connections and spiritual rejuvenation.

As the Mushakata Men’s Fellowship Co-ordinator many things have changed. I have gotten to know many of the men much better and am amazed at the responsiveness to the Ministry and the spiritual growth of many men, including myself. I thank all of you for your prayers and encouragement.

Our mission is to encourage every man to love God above all else by developing a personal relationship with Christ, to be accomplished by following Christ’s example in our time of worship, fellowship, daily work and in all personal contacts through words and actions.

We are guided the scripture in Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”.

Page 7

All men must be equipped with God’s Word to engage daily in Bible study and prayer, so that we may be energised by the Holy Spirit to be leaders and servants of Christ within our families, church, communities and the world.

During the Zoom meetings every Wednesday Night 1900-1700hrs we discussed various issues affecting men in our society and how to overcome them practically and spiritually.

As Christian men, we are committed to making a difference in our families, communities and in the world. This means also contacting our brothers that we do not see in meetings anymore.

Many thanks to the men who showed faith in action, (James 2:17-23), through the facilitation of a visit to Baba Sisimayi to comfort him following the passing away of amai Sisimayi. May the Lord continue to bless your gratitude and love that you show to one another.

A trip was planned for Saturday, 19 September 2023 and five men joined together for the day, starting with helping Baba Sisimayi lawn mowing and receiving words of encouragement from Baba Mutsambiwa. Prayers were also said before the group departed from baba Sisimayi’s home to enjoy a meal and activities at Marina Centre. Praise the Lord.

We will continue having the Men’s Fellowship meetings on Wednesday nights and welcome suggestions if you have any.

Special thanks to Pastor Musukutwa, Pastor Dhauya, Bishop Gomba, Baba Mutsambiwa, Baba Rondozai, Baba Chigora, Baba Munangati and everyone who helps in the work of Christ.

Mother’s Prayer took a slow start after covid restrictions ended. Our last conference was on 10/2022 in Cefn Lea.

We managed to bring all mother’s together one again on 18/11/2023 at The Holy Cross Church venue in Milton Keynes for a day’s conference. The day saw a good number of women coming together for the purposes of listening to the word of God, revelation of the word, prayer and growth as mothers.

Our preacher was Pastor Mrs Mwanaka who was accompanied by her husband on the day. Our own mother and Pastor Mashonganyika also gave the word on the day. Following the conference a new interim leadership of young mothers was appointed. Mother’s Prayer meetings continue to play an important role in encouraging mother young/old in creating Godly homes within their family. We continue to encourage one another by word of prayer and preaching in managing spiritual issues around addictions, depression, peer pressure etc amongst the young generation. We have now been meeting every 2nd/3rd week of the month via zoom meetings after our main service on Zoom.

Many mothers have been honouring the day and setting aside time for the prayer meetings.

Page 10

We look forward to many mothers joining us over our Zoom meetings and hopefully the annual conference this year which is now currently being discussed by the leadership.

On 05.06.23 an Interdenominational memorial service for late Chipo Maria Sisimayi was held. This was a Mubatanidzwa/ Umanyano led service to celebrate the life of Chipo M. Sisimayi. Chipo Maria Sisimayi, a woman of valour and role model to many Christian women around the world to whom Mubatanidzwa/ Umanyano in UK were celebrating memorable moments that touched many hearts in this journey of Christian life. Different member churches affiliating to Mubatanidzwa/Umanyano including Mushakata Women’s Group, got the opportunity to share personal experiences in memory of ‘Gamba redu/Iqhawe lethu- Reruwadzano/Lokumanyana‘Soja kumusha’ Iqhawe ekhaya’ 2Timothy 4:7-8. The service was well attended by many women who knew Chipo so well.

29.07.23-There was an Interdenominational Mubatanidzwa/ Umanyano Women’s Conference held at Benn Hall in Rugby. This was again a well-attended event by many women representing different churches of Zimbabwe including Mushakata Women’s group.

Page 11

On 28.12.23- Mushakata Fellowship Women’s Group led a Mubatanidzwa/Umanyano monthly prayer session on Zoom. The task given to Mushakata Women’s group was to share God’s word basing on works of 3 outstanding exemplary women in the bible. Three exemplary women chosen by those who represented Mushakata Church were as follows.

•Eli’s daughter in law (1 Samuel 4:19) ▪Lydia (Acts 16:11-40)▪ Rizpah(1 Samuel 21:514)

Other issues on the agenda to pray for on that day included the following:

►Praying and reflecting on God’s goodness ►Praying for marriages, especially young people recently settled in UK through the COS programme. ►Praying for God’s intervention in our workplaces in 2024 ►Praying for our motherlandZimbabwe and UK -the country we live ►Praying for all lost souls all over the world, especially our children

On 27.01.24-Mubatanidzwa/Umanyano Women’s Conference was held at Benn Hall in Rugby. The theme of the conference was based on Matthew 28:20b ’God’s constant presence in our lives, we never journey alone’. The conference was well attended by women from different churches including Mushakata church. Mushakata Church was requested to lead in prayer -remembering our beloved who have departed. In this conference women were also challenged with the words ‘Together we can revive Mubatanidzwa/Umanyano back to its big crowds of 1000 -1500 people attending as far back as 2014-2016. The questions that came up were: -

‘What has happened that has led to numbers dropping? ‘Have women abandoned God because they have received what they were praying for and asking God to intervene in issues of getting settlement papers to live in UK legally? Are women too busy with life and not attending to God’s work? These remained unanswered questions on the day but all women were reminded to reflect on Deuteronomy 8:1118.

There were no activities for the children and youth in the reporting year. This will continue to be an area to be reviewed and worked on.

This event occurred from May 25th to June 3rd, 2023.

At the beginning of our planning, we entrusted the pilgrimage to God to guide us and take care of each pilgrim. Our prayers were answered, and we had a meaningful experience with God as we journeyed in his footsteps, prayed together, and witnessed miracles. We were touched in our hearts and felt changed.

Page 12

Let's share and discuss our experiences to deepen our understanding of God's word in the places we visited. This will help us reflect and grow in our faith.

Christian pilgrimages to Egypt and Israel are spiritually and historically significant due to their biblical heritage.

Our journey enabled us to connect with the rich Christian heritage. In Egypt and Israel, we had the opportunity to witness the biblical and historical importance of these regions.

In Egypt, we visited Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. We also explored Coptic Cairo, which houses significant sites like the Hanging Church and the Coptic Museum, reflecting the early Christian history. Additionally, we learned about the Holy Family's refuge in Egypt to escape King Herod's massacre, visiting places such as the Monastery of St. Sergius and the Tree of the Virgin Mary. These experiences allowed us to seek spiritual renewal and growth by following in the footsteps of Jesus and other biblical figures. Through this pilgrimage, we were able to deeply reflect on the teachings of God and comprehend their importance in the places we visited.

Israel is a country rich in religious history and significance. In Jerusalem, pilgrims flock to sites such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is believed to be the location of Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. The Western Wall and the Via Dolorosa, the path Jesus is said to have walked on his way to crucifixion, are also popular destinations for pilgrims. In Bethlehem, the Church of the Nativity holds great importance as the birthplace of Jesus, attracting many pilgrims. Nazareth is another significant site, with the Basilica of the Annunciation marking the spot where the angel Gabriel informed Mary of her role in bearing Jesus. The Sea of Galilee is known as the region where Jesus performed numerous miracles and teachings, making it a significant pilgrimage site. Lastly, the Jordan River holds great significance as the place where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.

Christian pilgrimages to Egypt and Israel have various benefits, such as strengthening spiritual life, linking with biblical history, promoting personal and communal development, and improving cultural and religious awareness. These trips are more than just visits to ancient sites; they are meaningful experiences that strengthen faith and unity among Christians globally.

A group of fifteen leaders participated in a one-day Leaders Training Seminar workshop on March 16, 2024, at the Daventry Mercure hotel. The seminar covered various topics such as defining our identity, vision, purpose, communication, the role of Trustees, and leadership development. The focus was on creating the MFG Strategy to address key questions like our current position, future goals, and the path to get there.

Recommendations from the Strategy are now ready for implementation by the MFG Trustees and leadership team.

The Annual General Meeting took place in person at Milton Keynes-Mile Ash Church on 5[th] August 2023. The meeting was presided over by Mr S. Ncube. Mrs J Chirimamanga presented the minutes from the previous meeting held on 1[st] October 2022. The minutes were approved as an accurate record, but one matter arose from the minutes. It was decided that Mr Farai Mutsambiwa would continue to serve as the chairperson of the MFG committee for another year. Chairman Mr Ncube proposed that this issue be discussed under Any Other Business (AOB) towards the end of the meeting.

Mr Mutsambiwa delivered the 2022 Annual Report whilst Mrs Moyo presented the Financial Report. Both Reports were found to be free of any issues and were subsequently endorsed by the entire assembly. For more information on the Reports, the reader is referred to the 2022 Trustees Report filed with the regulatory authority.

During Any Other Business deliberations, Mr F. Mutsambiwa was re-elected to serve as the chairman of MFG for an additional 5 years, in line with the amended Clause 6 (3) of the Constitution instead of 1 year. This decision was made after the individual who was previously approached to assume the role of Shadow Trustee in

Page 16

preparation for taking over as Chairman was unable to do so due to work obligations.

New Trustees that served during the year under review were:

  1. Chairman – Mr Terence Farayi Mutsambiwa

  2. Vice Chairman - Mr Geoffrey Rutendo Rondozai

  3. Secretary – Mrs Sanele Ncube

  4. Treasurer – Mrs Thembelihle Moyo

Committee Members

  1. Baba Trymore Nyahunzwi,

  2. Mai Jocelyn Chirimamhanga,

  3. Auntie Gwen Matizanhau,

  4. Advisors Auntie Chenayi Mawere and Baba Prosper Ngwerume

Baba Mutsambiwa thanked the outgoing trustees for the work and dedication in ensuring MFG affairs were in order.

The affairs of the charity are governed by Trustees, who are recruited from the Fellowship Group’s Committee Members and from suitably qualified and committed members of the Fellowship Group. New Trustees are introduced to their role and responsibilities by the Chairman and Vice Chairman at which time relevant Charity Commission literature is issued together with copies of the Fellowship Group’s

Constitution and the latest financial information available. As and when available, Trustees attend recommended trainings or meetings offered by the Charity Commission.

The Trustees hold Board Meetings generally on a quarterly basis and as and when necessary to discuss the charity’s policy, financial and operational matters.

The following meetings were conducted during 2023 - 2024:

Page 17

As part of the Pastoral Committee mission and using their personal funds, three members of the leadership team and their spouses made the decision to pay a visit to one of the MFG pastors who had recently relocated to Glasgow, Scotland. The purpose of their visit was to assess the family's adjustment to their new location and enquire about their overall well-being.

The pastor and their family were profoundly moved by this act of love, which left them feeling inspired and instilled within them a strong sense of belonging to the family of God, rather than experiencing feelings of abandonment and isolation.

All those involved recognised the significance of this gesture and expressed their desire to continue such visits whenever the opportunity presented itself. Furthermore, they believed that this practice should be expanded to include the welfare of some of the elderly members of the MFG community who were no longer able to attend church due to their age or other circumstances.

Bible studies by members of the Fellowship Group are a key feature of our face-toface Milton Keynes, monthly worship meetings. They have proved to be beneficial not only in understanding of key biblical concepts, but in allowing different members of the Fellowship to use their God given gifts. This has allowed personal growth and that of the congregation.

In keeping with the Fellowship Group's objects – “to promote the Christian religion in the UK particularly among Zimbabweans living in the UK and Zimbabwe and prevention or relief of poverty, ill health, financial hardship, disability and distress amongst the above-mentioned beneficiaries, the public and wider society ”, MFG UK Leadership has appointed a Sub-Committee Committee on Projects to make recommendations to Trustees on charitable activities as and when the need arises. During the reporting period, no requests were presented for consideration to the Committee.

The Charity’s main priority is to raise and save sufficient funding for purchasing its own worship building first. By teaching members on giving, it is hoped they will be able to increase their giving to the charity. God did not say give when times are good and give later when times are bad. We give a portion of what He gives us now by faith in order to advance His kingdom.

As the charity’s income increases, the building can be bought.

As the Fellowship grows, there is an opportunity to consider employing admin staff and investing in the stock market, property, establish a home to take care of the sick and elderly, schools, clinics, etc. to generate more income and for the benefit of its beneficiaries, the public and wider society.

Page 20

Please note - this is a long-term vision that is not within touching distance at present. It’s something we aspire to achieve in future and is subject to change as the charity grows.

According to the Charity Commission’s Charity Financial Reserves Guidance Notes (10[th] May, 2013), “ by law, a charity must spend income it receives within a reasonable period of time unless there’s a good reason not to” . In accordance with this, Mushakata Fellowship Group (UK) will maintain its reserves at a level to cover 6 months’ core running expenses (i.e. monthly meetings hire expenses etc.) of the previous year. Any surplus reserves held over this amount will be utilised on other charitable activities and projects to be decided by the Fellowship Group members and in line with the charity’s objects.

In recent years, much consultation has happened between the Charity Commission and religious charities in relation to the question of public benefit. We are encouraged that the Commission acknowledges the intangible spiritual benefits that the charity works to provide. Jesus said, "you shall love your neighbour as yourself' . Our Fellowship Group’s monthly worship meetings, annual retreats, trips to Israel and other activities, reach out beyond our own congregation in UK and Zimbabwe through our collections during services, prayers that change circumstances at individual, household, national and international level, teachings of Jesus Christ, moral values and practices learnt from these teachings, visits to members when they are sick at home or in hospital and during bereavement, weddings and other social events, etc.

For example, non-Fellowship Group members of the public invited to our weddings, retreats, bereavement services, etc. have often commented about the palpable love for one another, support, respect and unity members display, which are some of the fundamental tenets of a good society.

Our worship meetings are open to all who wish to explore whether the Fellowship Group, can help them to enrich their spiritual lives. In discharging their duties, Trustees believe that they have complied with the Charity Commission’s Trustee guidance notes entitled “New Welcome Pack for Charity Trustees” updated May 2018.

Page 21

Conclusion Trustees would like to thank all MFG UK members and our visiting preachers for their enthusiasm and effort in fulfilling the Fellowship Group's objects - to promote the Christian religion in the UK particularly among Zimbabweans living in the UK and Zimbabwe and prevention or relief of poverty, ill health, financial hardship, disability and distress amongst the above-mentioned beneficianes, the public and wider society. Trustees are also indebted to Mr Lovemore Sisimayi who for many years has been willing to be our Independent Financial Examiner, reviewing and endorsing our Accounts, free of charge. We give all the praise and glory to God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! Declaration The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees report above.
