TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

1st April 2022 - 31st March 2023

TRUSTEES FOREWORD

“God is our refuge and strength, A[[][a][]] very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the[[][b][]] midst of the sea;

Mushakata Fellowship Group (UK)

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling . Psalm 46:1-3 (NKJV). During the year, we have seen God’s hand of Trustees deliverance bring us and the world through the raging Covid-19 pandemic. We were preserved, not because of our own righteousness but because of His Mr Farayi Mutsambiwa Grace. Chairman

Trustees

The world slowly began to lift the restrictions that had prevented social Mr Rutendo Rondozai interaction and restricted our meeting together. Regular monthly meetings at Vice Chairman Milton Keynes commenced in July 2022, with excitement at the opportunity to finally physically embrace and share a meal and experiences after such a long Mrs Sanele Ncube time. However, numbers of those attending have remained well below the Secretary peak of pre-Covid times.

Mrs Thembie Moyo Weekly Zoom meetings continued to be conducted with variable attendance Treasurer numbers ranging from 16 to 25 connected devices. The recordings of these meetings also allowed others an opportunity to hear the word at their convenience.

By God’s grace there were also fewer bereavements and illnesses of members and their relatives, both here and in Zimbabwe. However, intercession continued in earnest for marriages, families, financial challenges and other problems facing members. There continued to be sharing of experiences during men and women’s ministries. Mushakata Fellowship Group continued to offer practical and financial support including private counselling to strengthen each other.

It has been a year where members have had a lot to give thanks to our God for, including the ability to travel to Zimbabwe in particular to see friends and family after a period of restriction. There were a number of families that also resettled in the UK, some of whom became part of Mushakata Fellowship

The men’s ministry continued with weekly meetings and the women’s ministry started monthly meetings. Regrettably, there continues to be no meetings of the youth or children’s ministries, a situation that we continue to try and resolve.

As usual, Mushakata Fellowship Leadership continues to ensure that our activities are in line with our charitable objectives.

By Farai Mutsambiwa (Chairman) and Rutendo Rondozai (Vice Chairman)

: Summary of Main Achievements During Year 2022 - 2023[1]

Worship Meetings

In the period 2022-23, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic began to ease across the UK and internationally. Although new variants continued to emerge these were not as deadly and along with the vaccination programme allowed the government to ease restrictions in the early part of the reporting year.

In July 2022, a decision was taken for us to start regular monthly meetings at Milton Keynes. This was a welcome move and those that attended were excited with this move. It also enabled the bible studies to be carried out which proved very interactive and engaging. However, the numbers were significantly reduced compared to pre-pandemic times with on average 16 people attending. There was also very few if any children attending in some of the meetings.

Weekly Zoom meetings continued every Saturday during the reporting period. Despite the return to Milton Keynes, leadership has taken the decision that the weekly meetings continue as they enrich the lives of members.

The services have been led by various preachers including Guest Preachers all the way from Zimbabwe – Bishop Rodwell Masanga and Mai Muneta and other local preachers.

The trustees would also like to pay tribute to the MC’s who were in charge of each meeting for their dedication and to the pastoral team that coordinated the preachers.

Bereavements

There were fewer bereavements suffered by fellowship members during the reporting period. Memorial services were held by Mushakata Fellowship Group as per our tradition and members supported the bereaved members through financial support, visits and prayer.

Leaders Prayer Group Meeting – 14th January 2023

This year’s prayer meeting was held at Milton Keynes. In a first as well, the prayer meeting was not restricted to leaders but any Mushakata Fellowship members who felt the desire to be part of the prayer session. There was a turnout for the meeting of about 8 members. The prayer meeting focused on: -

  1. New arrivals from Zimbabwe especially children

  2. Peace for Zimbabwe focusing on elections this year

  3. Fellowship to be led by God

  4. Different ministries, men, women, youth, children, marriage

2022 Annual Revival Convention: Thursday 19[th] – Sunday 22[nd] May 2022

The theme for the convention was based on Isaiah 40: 31

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.”.

The retreat was held via Zoom and was well attended by many participants.

The crown of the convention was a holy communion service on the last day. Most participants felt spiritually empowered to face the challenges of life for another year.

Men’s Fellowship

“Men does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord”. Deuteronomy 8:3. As men in fellowship we are aware that physical nourishment is not enough for a healthy life; as men we also need to cater for our spiritual needs.

The zoom services platform for men every Wednesday has gone from strength to strength following our theme, “As iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17.

As men, we will continue to pray to our Lord and be guided by the spirit to inspire not only the members on the platform, but to invite men and young men in our society to Christ. The platform on Wednesday offers that spiritual need and understanding our relationship with the Lord through prayer, teachings and testimonials.

These meetings would not be a success without the blessing of our elders, priests, bishops, and apostles who bless us with teachings praising and worshipping every blessed Wednesday night.

I would like to thank the wonderful Lord for the Men’s fellowship platform and its future development.

Many thanks to Bishop Gomba, Apostle Magadzire, Pastor Dhauya, Pastor Musukutwa, Pastor Munangati, Baba I. Sisimayi, Baba Mutsambiwa, Baba Makufa, Baba Ncube & Baba Moyo and to all the men and fathers who tune in every Wednesday night Glory to God. To the organisers, Baba Whata, Baba Rondozai, Baba L. Sisimayi, Baba Chigora.

Let us continue to worship and praise the Lord every Wednesday night.

Women’s Fellowship

During the year under consideration, women held many meetings via Zoom where the word of God was preached and bible study was conducted. Prayer meetings were also convened in support of each other. Women also visited sick members in their homes and at hospital. As well as this, the women held a face to face retreat at Cefn Lea. This involved worshipping the Lord, teaching and preaching of God’s word, sharing testimonies and praying for one another.

Women’s Annual UK Mubatanidzwa Conventions

Children and Young People’s Report

There were no activities for the children and youth in the reporting year. This will continue to be an area to be reviewed and worked on.

Trip to Holy Land

After a 2-year hiatus, the beginning of 2023 saw the trip to Israel being revived. This began in earnest with pilgrims from UK and Zimbabwe making their plans and flight bookings. The itinerary included stopover in Egypt on the way to Israel. Since the trip eventually took place in May 2023, a full report on what transpired will be published in next year’s Annual Report.

The Annual General Meeting was held face to face on the 1[st] of October 2022 at Milton Keynes. Mr Simon Ncube chaired the meeting. The meeting adopted the financial report and the recommendations of the trustees without amendment.

Trustees and (MFG Leadership)

The affairs of the charity are governed by Trustees, who are recruited from the Fellowship Group’s Committee Members and from suitably qualified and committed members of the Fellowship Group. New Trustees are introduced to their role and responsibilities by the Chairman and Vice Chairman at which time relevant Charity Commission literature is issued together with copies of the Fellowship Group’s

Constitution and the latest financial information available. As and when available, Trustees attend recommended trainings or meetings offered by the Charity Commission.

The Trustees hold Board Meetings generally on a quarterly basis and as and when necessary to discuss the charity’s policy, financial and operational matters.

Trustees’ Meetings

The following meetings were conducted during 2022 - 2023:

Other Achievements, Future Plans and Vision

1. Gift Aid

Gift Aid claimed during the year ending 31[st] March 2023 was £1,789.73. We give all the praise to the Lord for this support through Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

2. Bible Study

Our regular monthly meetings recommenced in July 2022 following the Covid-19 pandemic in Milton Keynes. These have been ongoing since. The bible studies have proved to be beneficial not only in understanding of key biblical concepts, but in allowing different members to use their God given gifts. This has allowed personal growth and that of the congregation.

3. Sponsorship of projects in Zimbabwe and UK

In keeping with the Fellowship Group's objects – “to promote the Christian religion in the UK particularly among Zimbabweans living in the UK and Zimbabwe and prevention or relief of poverty, ill health, financial hardship, disability and distress amongst the above-mentioned beneficiaries, the public and wider society ”, MFG UK Leadership has appointed a Sub-Committee Committee on Projects to make recommendations to Trustees on charitable activities as and when the need arises. During the reporting period, no requests were presented for consideration to the committee.

4. Current Priorities

The Charity’s main priority is to raise and save sufficient funding for purchasing its own worship building first. By teaching members on giving, it is hoped they will be able to increase their giving to the charity. God did not say give when times are good and give later when times are bad. We give a portion of what He gives us now by faith in order to advance His kingdom.

As the charity’s income increases, the building can be bought. But also, there is a long-term opportunity to employ a Fundraiser to help raise funding from external sources. With a building in place, a Projects Officer could also be employed to help identify, implement and monitor projects.

Page 9

5. Future Growth Strategy and Vision

As the Fellowship grows, there is also an opportunity to consider investing in the stock market, property, establish a home to take care of the sick and elderly, schools, clinics, etc. to generate more income and for the benefit of its beneficiaries, the public and wider society.

Please note - this is a long-term vision that is not within touching distance at present. It’s something we aspire to achieve in future and is subject to change as the charity grows.

Finances

Reserves Policy

According to the Charity Commission’s Charity Financial Reserves Guidance Notes (10[th] May, 2013), “ by law, a charity must spend income it receives within a reasonable period of time unless there’s a good reason not to” . In accordance with this, Mushakata Fellowship Group (UK) will maintain its reserves at a level to cover 6 months’ core running expenses (i.e. monthly meetings hire expenses etc.) of the previous year. Any surplus reserves held over this amount will be utilised on other charitable activities and projects to be decided by the Fellowship Group members and in line with the charity’s objects.

Public benefit

In recent years, much consultation has happened between the Charity Commission and religious charities in relation to the question of public benefit. We are encouraged that the Commission acknowledges the intangible spiritual benefits that the charity works to provide. Jesus said "you shall love your neighbour as yourself' . Our Fellowship Group’s monthly worship meetings, annual retreats, trips to Israel and other activities, reach out beyond our own congregation in UK and Zimbabwe through our collections during services, prayers that change circumstances at individual, household, national and international level, teachings of Jesus Christ, moral values and practices learnt from these teachings, visits to members when they are sick at home or in hospital and during bereavement, weddings and other social events, etc.

For example, non-Fellowship Group members of the public invited to our weddings, retreats, bereavement services, etc. have often commented about the palpable love for one another, support, respect and unity members display, which are some of the fundamental tenets of a good society.

Our worship meetings are open to all who wish to explore whether the Fellowship Group, can help them to enrich their spiritual lives. In discharging their duties, Trustees believe that they have complied with the Charity Commission’s Trustee guidance notes entitled “New Welcome Pack for Charity Trustees” updated May 2018.
