## 27th June 2025

## **CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – 2025**

The Society’s main aim of the year was, as usual to hold the annual Eastrington Agricultural Show & Family Fun Day again on Saturday 21st June 2025.

The Annual fund-raising Dinner Dance was held at The Eastrington Village Hall on 8th November 2024. As in earlier years. It was well organised by Emma Gamble with help from others & Lorraine Cooling organised the raffle.

There was an attendance 84 and a good evening was had by all! A live band was danced to enthusiastically until the midnight hour! A profit was made of £456.37, which was of course put towards the 2025 Show running costs.

The 2025 Eastrington Agricultural Show was very dry and hot, which put some horse and cattle exhibitors off bringing their animals However, many people came to support the show and the gate takings were the best to date!

Car parking was improved by the Society renting a neigbouring farmers field to give extra space and the Show field manager Sam Benson, clearly marked out a new layout which worked better than the previous year. We still needed 3 attendants and extra hands at times and there are ideas on how to improve for next year.

Jayne Elliott did a fantastic job of running the equine classes and obtaining brilliant prizes from sponsors. The classes were once again well attended and everyone enjoyed it and feedback was positive. There were some concerns about the going for showjumping, but being a sports field, the going was much better than a lot of shows had this summer.

Local firm’ Guns n Noses’ held a fun dog show to and this was very well attended, with a lot of people entering their pet dogs.

As mentioned, the cattle showing had a few less entries, but was well organised as always by the White Family. Our thanks go to Pam White and Sons, Oliver and Christian.

The accounts show a profit this year, of £,607.55, and £1928.41, if the prepayments for the 2026 show are reversed. This shows that even with record attendance, we are only just covering costs, but as long as we can do that. We will endeavour to provide an affordable Family event again in 2026!

We look forward to next year’s show which is already being planned to be better than ever!

My thanks go to all the Committee for working so hard on behalf of the Society and the Show.
