Tel. 01430 410340 Mob: 07762 548429 Email: eastringtonshow@gmail.com ## 30th June 2023 ## **CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – 2023** The Society’s main aim of the year was, as usual to hold the annual Eastrington Agricultural Show & Family Fun Day again on Saturday 17[th] June 2023. The Annual fund-raising Dinner Dance was held at The Eastrington Village Hall on 15[th] October 2022. As in earlier years. It was well organised by Emma Gamble with help from others & Lorraine Cooling organised the raffle. Attendance was a little down on previous years, probably due to the continuing presence of Covid 19, but a good evening was had by all! DJ Andy Rollin kept everyone dancing in to the late hours! A modest profit was made of £285.63, which was of course put towards the 2023 Show running costs. The 2023 Eastrington Agricultural Show was blessed with very dry, very hot weather, for the first time in years! The Public came out in droves, keen to socialise again after the pandemic and the attendance was the Show’s best for some time. Over £5 thousand pounds was taken on the gate for show admissions! Car parking became an issue with the number of people attending and we had to use an ‘overflow’ field, kindly allowed by our generous neighbour, Richard Hardcastle. Jayne Elliott did a fantastic job of running the equine classes and obtaining brilliant prizes from sponsors. The classes were once again very well attended and everyone enjoyed it and gave very good feed back. Howden & District Riding Club held a fun dog show to raise funds for their own organisation and this was very well attended, with a lot of people entering their pet dogs. As usual, the cattle showing had good entries, being well organised as always by the White Family. Our thanks go to Pam White and Sons, Oliver and Christian. The accounts show a small profit this year, which is heartening after last year’s loss. There was still a lot of costs to run the show, but the Society’s aim is to cover the show running costs, rather than make large profits. We aim to supply a local, affordable family event and I think that we achieved that aim very successfully this year! We look forward to next year’s show which is already being planned to be better than ever!
