Liverpool South MGF is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation no 1158339 set up in August 2014 to distribute funds for the advancement of Mission and Growth of the member churches of the Church of England Liverpool South Deanery which is part of the Church of England Liverpool Diocese. ## **1.1.1 Our Deanery** The Deanery of Liverpool South comprises the following seventeen Church of England churches: All Saints, Speke; St Marks, Childwall Valley; St Stephen, Gateacre; St Barnabas, Penny Lane; All Souls, Springwood; St Michael, Garston; St Anne’, Aigburth; St Mary’s, Grassendale; St Matthew and St James, Mossley Hill; All Hallows, Allerton; All Saints, Childwall; St Aidan, ‘the Place to Be’ Speke; St Nicholas, Halewood; St Mary, Halewood; St Hilda, Hunts Cross; St Peter, Woolton. ## **1.2 Administrative Information** ## **1.2.1 Correspondence Address for Trustees** Registered address: The Flat All Hallows Church Hall 1 Greenhill Road Mossley Hill LIVERPOOL L18 6JJ United Kingdom ## Email address: LiverpoolSouthDeaneryMGF@gmail.com ## **1.2.2 MGF Trustee Membership** The Trustees for the period to 31 December 2025 were: - Mr David Bishop - Rev’d Nicola Milford - Mrs Natalie White - Rev’d Andrew Colmer - Mr Ian Crowe - Mrs Victoria Grey - Mr Paul Roberts ## **1.2.3 Bankers** The Co-operative Bank ## South Liverpool Deanery ## **1.2.4 Day to Day Management Control** Day to day managerial control of the CIO is exercised by the Area Dean, Revd. Nicola Milford contactable on 0151 724 1561 A treasurer has been appointed by the trustees to ensure good financial controls. The Current Treasurer is Gillian Dottie. ## **1.3 Structure, Management and Governance** ## **1.3.1 CIO Constitution** The CIO constitution is a foundation model, dated 9 July 2014 and approved on 26 August 2014 upon which date the CIO came into being. A copy of the constitution has been provided to all trustees. ## **1.3.2 Related Trusts** The Liverpool South Deanery is part of the Liverpool Diocese, which along with each of the member churches are Charitable Trusts operating under the Charities Act 2011 and relevant Church of England Measures (see note above about change in member churches). ## **1.3.3 MGF Appointments** Appointments to the MGF trustees are made in accordance with the CIO Constitution section 10. ## **1.3.4 Assessment of Risks** The trust at present holds no property, nor employs staff, although both are allowed by the constitution. At present funds are only distributed from reserves through the awarding of grants to the churches, singularly or together, or to the Deanery as a whole. The extent of money made available to the trust by the diocese is calculated by the Liverpool Diocese Board of Finance according to a formula based on church attendance within the deanery across the diocese. Funds can be withheld by the diocese from the deanery if individual churches fail to pay their parish share to the diocese. This assessment is made based on the previous year’s payment of parish share. No funds were received or distributed to churches in 2025. ## **1.4 Objectives and Activities** ## **1.4.1 Primary Aims and Objectives** The objectives of the CIO are stated in the constitution as follows: _The advancement of the Christian faith in particular but not exclusively by promoting Christian Mission and/or Growth within the Liverpool South Deanery by the distribution of grants to or via the Church of England parishes within the deanery._ ## **1.4.2 Main Objectives for the year** The year to December 2025 is the eleventh full year of operation of the CIO. The grant application process was frozen for this year. Our definition of ‘Mission and Growth’: ## South Liverpool Deanery - Gospel focussed; - Reaching the un-churched; - Community based; - Meeting a need not yet met; - Encouraging people back to church. Positive uses: - Training; - Supporting mission-focussed projects; - Employment. Negatives uses: - Not for building alterations; - Not for an employment post that already exists; - Not for staff in individual churches; - Not for money-making ventures. These criteria were discussed and agreed with the Deanery Synod at the inception of the CIO, and have been used to assess applications received in previous years. Following consideration of the applications, offers of grants were made, and each applicant required to accept the terms of the award prior to receiving the grant. A further condition of the award of a grant is the provision of feedback. ## **1.5 Achievements and Performance** ## **1.5.1 Summary of Main Achievements** - During 2025 no funds were received from the Diocese. The Charity has two accounts held at the Cooperative Bank: Community Directplus Current Account 35 day Interest Account The opening joint balance on 1 January 2025 was **£7264.35** ## **Expenditure** Three payments totalling £433 were made during the year. The joint closing balance as of 31[st] December 2025 was £6935.63. ## **1.5.2 Plans for 2026** The MGF does anticipate receiving additional grant money in 2026 and it will continue with grant applications in line with the agreed criteria subject to a review by the appointed Trustees of the funds. ## **1.6 Financial Review** ## **1.6.1 The Financial Position** The cash position at the end of the period was £6935.63. ## **1.6.2 Statement of Explanation of Reserves Policy** The trustees have agreed to holding a reserve fund of £5,000. ## South Liverpool Deanery ## **2.0 Independent Examiner’s Report** ## **LIVERPOOL SOUTH DEANERY MISSION AND GROWTH FUND** ## **REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1158339** ## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS** Report to the trustees of Liverpool South Deanery MGF on the accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2025 set out on pages 1 and 2. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the year ended 31[st] December 2025. As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 (5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent Examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which give me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or - the accounts do not accord with the accounting records I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
