The trustees present their report along with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 31 August 2017 The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies and notes to the accounts as set out on page 3 to 4 and comply with the Charity's trust Deed and applicable law.
GOVERNING DOCUMENT
The charity is governed by it constitution which is a Trust Deed adopted on 1 September 2014.
APPOINTMENTS OF TRUSTEES
The Annual General Meeting of EXSSA-UK shall elect members and non members to act as trustees for the charity. New trustees are briefed on their legal obligations under charity law, the Charity's Trust Deed and recent financial performance of the charity. The following were trustees from the start of the period to the date of the report:

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The purpose of the trust is to advance the welfare, prestige and educational facilities of Saker Baptist College in Cameroon and its alumna in the UK through financial support, fostering a spirit of solidarity, empowerment and better social integration.
The principal objects of the charity without limitation are:

I) Advancement of Education

ii) Relief of Financial Hardship
In planning activities each year we keep in mind the charity Commissions guidance on public benefit.
Contributions made by volunteers
All trustees give their time voluntary and receive no remuneration or other benefits.
A great contribution is made by volunteers from EXSSA UK members in running and participating in charitable events. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not have been able to achieve so much.
Achievements and Performance
Annual Donations given to other Alumni groups as part of their fundraising request to go towards the education for young girls, wellbeing of young girls, empowering the advocates for the girl child.

Achievements and Performance
January 2024
Phase three of the Stepping in the Light (STIL) project which was the renovation of the Chemistry Lab at Saker Baptist College to bring it up to modern standards.
August 2023
Phase two of the Stepping in the Light (STIL) project which was the renovation of the Physics Lab at Saker Baptist College to bring it up to modern standards.
March 2022
Members volunteered to clean St Pauls church, a church of England church based in Coventry. August 2016
Members volunteered to clean The River School Worcester in preparation for the new school year. December 2015
We began the Stepping in the Light (STIL) project, to renovate the Food technology (Nutrition) lab at Saker Baptist College to bring it up to European standards.
September 2015
For our project for this year we provided personal alarms to the students at Saker Baptist College for the students to feel safe when they wake up at night to go the communal toilets.
March 2015
Members volunteered to feed the homeless at a church in Leeds as part of our general charitable work. September 2013
The second phase of Sanitation Project in Saker Baptist College was the continuation of the treatment of sewage with Sceptic Digest product which saw significance sanitation improvement in the students. April 2013

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Our main source of funds this year was from the fundraising gala.

STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The law applicable to charities registered in England & Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year that gives a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial , the Trustees are required to:
a) Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;
b) Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

Independent Examiners Report
For the year ended 31 August 2024
The charity's trustees consider that an audit not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to
a) examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act)'
b) to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act), and
c) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
My examination was carried our in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

a) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and
-
b) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act; have not been met; or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
