## **TRENT VALE COMMUNITY SPORTS ASSOCIATION TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT**

## **FOR THE PERIOD 1ST JANUARY TO 31ST DECEMBER 2021 CHARITY REGISTRATION NUMBER 1158295**

## **Objectives and Activities**

The purposes of the charity are the provision of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of ball and racquet sports, and such other charitable purposes in Beeston and the surrounding area that the trustees from time to time think fit.

Trent Vale Community Sports Association was formed in August 2014 between Beeston Football Club and Trent Vale Squash Club to oversee the development and running of a new shared facility on part of the former Plessey Site, owned by VBR Investments. A new facility was proposed that would provide a major benefit to both Beeston FC and Trent Vale Squash Club and to the wider local community who would also have access to the facilities.

## **Achievements and Performance**

Beeston FC and Trent Vale Squash Club each contributed £4,000 in 2015 in order to meet the initial set-up costs including the costs of forming the Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Plans for the development of the whole Beeston Business Park were approved in 2014 including residential development, a food retail outlet, car park, health centre, new business units and new sports facilities.

In October 2015 a joint venture between Bridges Property Alternatives Fund and Chancerygate, a specialist industrial property company, bought Beeston Business Park from VBR Investments.

In November 2017, TVCSA obtained a 99-year lease from the new landlords, rent free for 3 years and £1,000 p.a. thereafter.

TVCSA began looking to secure funding for the development of the site and engaged Julian Owen Architects to create designs for the new clubhouse/pavilion.

In October 2019 The Football Foundation approved a capital grant offer of 84% of a total project cost of £571,656, subject to a maximum payment of £481,656 to TVCSA, towards the refurbishment and alteration of the existing changing pavilion to form a new changing pavilion and the delivery of the aims and objectives of TVCSA. The grant was awarded from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund (PL/FA:FF).

Maintenance on the site is currently undertaken by Beeston FC, which also provided funding to finance certain costs including architects and planning fees incurred throughout 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

By mid 2020, TVCSA celebrated achieving its £600,000 fundraising target to enable work on the site to begin. Volunteers, players and parents have worked

tirelessly to raise money to put alongside the grant from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund.

Additional financial support was provided by Reckitt Benkiser, Broxtowe Borough Council and many other local businesses. The project also benefitted from the support of local politicians from all parties.

Work on the site began in July 2020 and Trent Vale Community Sports Association and work continued throughout 2021, with major refurbishment, fit out and equipping of the building. The facility includes four changing rooms and showers, community room, kitchen, bar and it has disability access throughout.

## **Financial Review**

Following the approval of the grant funded by the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund as detailed above, TVCSA have raised the necessary additional funds to enable them to commence the delivery of the new facilities.

The amount of reserves held at 31 December 2021 was £16,666. Structure, Governance and Management of TVCSA is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered on 19th August 2014.
