Activities
The Wilmslow Half Marathon raises funds by organising an annual half marathon race in the roads around Wilmslow and Mobberley. The event is held at the end of March or beginning of April and has been held since 1984. Usually between 3000 and 5000 competitors enter the event. Any surplus generated by the event is distributed to sports clubs and other organisations in the area. In 2019 the committee rebranded the event as the Wilmslow Running Festival and incorporated a 10Km race and a children’s fun run.
Entry numbers for this year’s race increased considerably by 25% from 3500 (2022 race) to 4400 (2023 race) and are now at a similar level to pre-Covid numbers. Donations of £34,150 were made during the year. A list of donations is shown on P6 of this report.
