Intro
The Trustees have given due consideration to how PGL has met the charity legislation and requirements and are satisfied that the charity has complied with the obligations and responsibilities.
The report sets out the operations and achievements of the charity for the period under review.
Vision
Promoting Global Learning (PGL) is a registered charity with the vision of assisting to raise the standard of education in Africa, the Caribbean and the rest of the developing world. The founders of PGL believe that education will empower people to get good jobs and move into professions that will bring them out of poverty and enable them to lead more fulfilling lives.
Mission
The mission of PGL is to resource teaching and learning by providing, free of charge:

Twinning of UK schools with counterparts in the developing world to enhance cultural awareness and for other mutual benefits
Our mission is placing increasing emphasis on literacy in basic education as the key foundation of learning and child development. The systemic and methodical application of synthetic phonics is now widely recognised as the most effective means of teaching reading and writing. PGL is devoting significant effort in the advocacy and implementation of the concept and related research.
PGL works in partnership with governments, non- governmental organisations, parents and other stakeholders in pursuing its aims and objectives. PGL participates in school assemblies and attends conferences and workshops to share good practice, review strategies and develop fresh perspectives. In helping to facilitate improvement in education, PGL engages with local communities to ensure ownership and effective involvement in our work.
PGL receives no government funding and relies solely on donations to carry out its programmes and operations. We undertake regular fundraising activities to meet the costs of collection, storage, freight and distribution of educational resources. Our funding arrangements also include support of effective teaching programmes and policies. We ensure transparency and accountability by publishing regular reports of our work and expenditure.

A team of volunteers kindly support all aspects of the work and charitable objects.
Review of Actvites and Achievements
In a one-off innovative scheme, PGL partnered with the Shel Ore Foundation and KGL Foundation to undertake an ambitious, far-ranging Digital Safety & Human Dignity Project (DSHDP) in a 9-month child online protection and digital literacy intervention scheme aimed at supporting over 400 children and youth (aged 10–19) in 2 Districts - Ablekuma West and Madina. The project aimed to equip the children with the knowledge, skills, and support systems needed to navigate the digital world safely, confidently, and responsibly. The programme hoped to address rising cases of youth exposure to cyberbullying, online sexual exploitation, harmful content, gambling addictions, sextortion, fraud and mental health consequences associated with unmanaged digital behaviour.
PGL’s participation was in the formulation, planning, resourcing and management of the joint scheme.
The initiative combined capacity-building, school-based training, psychosocial support, community sensitization, and a referral/help-desk support system for at-risk youth. Through structured digital literacy boot camps, teacher/counsellor training, parental sensitization, development of reporting pathways, and collaboration with District Education Directorates and child protection institutions, the project sought to strengthen community-based systems that safeguard young people online.
The evaluation of the overall programme will inform PGL’s engagement in future collaborative ventures.
Priorities and programmes that were deferred to make room for the collective joint venture will now be undertaken. These include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering
& Mathematics) Education for girls; introductory courses on Coding, apprenticeships and vocational education.
Capacity-building, deepening ongoing strategic partnerships and volunteer recruitment continue to be key to PGL’s impact and aspirations.
Future Plans
Future priorities will be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Education for girls; coaching courses on Coding, introductory Vocational Training courses and support for apprenticeships.
More strategic partnerships, improved public relations and training of volunteers will be intrinsic in PGL’s forthcoming plans and programmes.
