To provide grants and donations for such charitable purposes for the public benefit as are exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales as the trustees may from time to time determine in particular but not exclusively in Oughtibridge and the surrounding area.

Oughtibridge Gala Events and Donations Charity have organised two community events within our financial year.
Sports Night enjoyed fine weather and therefore a good turnout in both children’s races and the Tom Holmes Gala Chase. We hired a PA company to help communicate across the park. This turned out to be expensive and as we reduced our catering offering and did not increase the entry fees, this led to the event making a very small loss overall.
We were lucky enough to receive £5000 in sponsorship to help with Gala costs. Gala Day activities started with a walking parade through the village, and after the traditional opening ceremony, the guests enjoyed an Arts & Crafts area, village competitions, games, inflatables, rides, a comedy entertainment act, stalls to buy from, canoe experience, a dog show, food and beverages, local police and fire appliances and musical performances.
This was the first Gala in three years and was extremely popular. We estimated that approximately 4000 people attended across the afternoon. We had very few volunteers on the day and so pulled back on the catering we offered ourselves and invited in three outside caterers

for a pitch fee. Queues were long and the caterers ran out of food an hour before gala officially ended, so we will increase the catered offering next year, and also increase the pitch fee we charged. We had three heavy rain showers which meant the event had effectively wound up soon after 4pm – almost an hour early.
Our two events have enabled us to raise enough money to be able to donate £5000 to local charitable organisations in October 2022. Money was given to several local churches, scout and guide groups, the luncheon club, Brass Band Training Band, local schools PTA and supporters groups plus others.
We ask for written applications for donations, and the committee considers each application to ensure it is local, for the benefit of many, and is charitable.

Our members are all volunteers and we could not run these events without them, nor without the support of the people and community groups of Oughtibridge. We really appreciate all the help and support we receive.
Committee members and trustees were not able to award more than 25% of the total donation to group with which they have a personal connection.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
We feel that the charity has had a successful year. We have raised £5000 for local charitable causes and have kept enough money in the bank to organise more events next year. The charity is therefore in a strong position financially and we feel we are well supported by the local community. We had numerous local groups involved at the events this year and a huge amount of help from individuals too. We feel the charity is in a strong position going forward.
