(a) UVS commrttee have scrutinised planning applications in the area and raised observations when relevant. Building work and use of premises have been monitored and. when regulations a being contravened, the relevant authorities have been notified wrth reference to Conservation areas and sttes of SSI. (b) UVS magazine has been published three times this year and has induded articles on local history and the naturdl history of the area. UVS supports the publication of bcM)ks, pamphlets. and information leaflets abjut the area. all available at local outlets. Summary of the main activities undèrtaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include wlthin this section the statutory declaratlon that trustses have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commisslon on publlc benefft} Ic) UVS has funded a grounds maintenanc6 programme to Gover areas of the village not currently maintained by the council. Volunteers from UVS have G3rried out repair and maintenance tasks within the area. Id) Reports of abandoned vehicles have been sent to the police. The UVS supports the village Neighbourhood Watch group and has supported the dissemination of NHW news. The UVS committee has worked Vth North Somerset Community Response Department to redu the incidences of dcty3 fouling in the area. Awareness slickers have been increased and regular patrols are being undertaken. Members are assisting the process by providing details of hotspots to the relevant departmenL (e) Local voluntary organisations including. Those who have spent many Ftt)urs trying to keep down the brambles in the Donkey Field. The volunteers who inspect the defibrillators located in the village on a weekly basis to ensure that they are in good working ord8r. Individuals who have organised the events throughout the year. Contrtbutors and editor of'uphill Views, The team who managas thè Fabook p89e which makes residents aware of local events, public services infomiation. The team also answer questions raised on the plaffom. Regular Trustee meetings are held. and all policies and procedures are regularly reviewed along with all relevant guidan from the Charity Commission. this being particularly relevant during this initial period in the Charities life. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year The Charitses magazine for the wllage continues to support the objects with artides related to the history, geography and natural history of the area and prormtron of I1 voluntary organisations. The Beacon situated overlooking the village as part of the national chain has been lil for New Year and as a part of the national event to commerrmte the coronation of King Chades. Our group of volunteers kepl the flower planters around the wllage maintained results'ng in magnifint displays throughout the spring and summer. The Donkey Field nature reserve was cleared of brambles and decayed trees resulting in the increased displays of snowdrops, primroses. daff(Klils, tulips and cowslips dLJring the spring. The village environment was improved during the local 'litter clearan. event in March. An aftem{n tea paty was held to celebrdte the coronation of King Charles. The Annual Village Show. wllage fete and charity duck race, scarecrow festival. The UVS has been working with the Churth Conservation Trust to try and resolve the issue of no electriuty supply to the St Nicholas Church on the hill, due to damaged cables. This has involved the UVS in trying to cxK)rdinate between the various interested parttes. TAR March 2012
