## **FROM THE CHAIR**

Thank you for taking the time to read Team Verrico’s Annual Report. Team Verrico is an entirely volunteer charity, no one who gives their time to help run the organisation and deliver support to our applicants is paid. This is an important part of our ethos; it allows us to ensure that all the money we raise can go to helping people and supporting vital research. So, I want to begin by saying an enormous thank you to my fellow Trustees and all the other volunteers who enable Team Verrico to continue in our shared mission to support families who are facing very difficult times because of cancer

Over the last 12 months Team Verrico has provided a wide range of practical, medical and emotional support to over 100 families dealing with cancer. You can find more information about the support we have provided in this Report. We have remained true to our mission; to provide flexible and practical support to those who need it. We listen careful to what our applicants are asking for and shape our support to meet their needs. If you, or someone you know, might benefit from our support please get in touch.

Of course, in order to keep helping families, we need to keep raising money. I am incredibly grateful to all the individuals and groups who have raised money for us in the last year, not least our founder Paul who completed his 10 Marathons in 10 Months raising over £50,000 in the process. I’ve subjected you all to a photo of me and Paul at the end of Welsh Marathon in – I am sorry!

Thank you for reading our Report and, as ever, please contact us if you would like to get involved and support Team Verrico.

Nicholas Cranfield – Chair of Team Verrico

## **SENIOR TEAM**

Team Verrico is entirely reliant on volunteers to run the charity. We have a group of Trustees and many, many volunteers. Team Verrico’s ‘Senior Team’ is made up of those Trustees and a small number of our many volunteers who hold formal positions.

The current Senior Team includes:

Trustees:

- Nicholas Cranfield – Trustee and Chair

- Jackie McHale – Trustee and Treasurer

- Philip Crosbie – Trustee and Secretary

- Emily Christelow – Trustee and Head of Fundraising

- Paul Verrico – Trustee and Head of Research

As well as the small group of Trustees, the charity is supported by a wealth of volunteer talent, including formal positions:

- Jackie Steele – Head of Counselling

- Claire Skeet – Head of Finance

- Cheryl Moorhouse – Events

- Jason Mounter – JJ-Solutions (IT and Website)

If you would like to assist the charity in any way possible, please get in touch using the details at the end of this report.

We would love to hear from you.

.

## **WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR MONEY**

It is vital that we use as much of your donations as possible to pursue the key objectives of Team Verrico. By not taking any salaries and minimising administrative costs, we seek to ensure that as much money raised goes towards great causes.

## Research

We receive a number of requests for research grants and assess them as a Trustee team to consider their merits, as well as whether they fit within the objectives of the charity. We have benefited from long-term relationships with a range of innovative research organisations. This year we were able to continue to provide further funding to aid research into leading cancer treatments with a research grant of over £25,130

Please keep an eye on our social media streams to find out about the latest projects that are underway.

## Support

The charity regularly receives requests for support through its website, social media outlets, or through recommendations and word-of-mouth. The requests for support evidence the impact that cancer can have on families, and how your support can make a massive difference:

- Practical – requests for cleaners, food packages, as well as assistance with travel and childcare costs whilst undergoing cancer treatment;

- Medical – arranging for second opinions and consultations for those diagnosed with cancer; and

- Emotional – we provide a counselling service for those diagnosed with cancer, and family members who may also be affected.

## **HOW WE RAISE MONEY**

We are thankful for every single one of our supporters and fundraisers, including the below!

**9**

It is a mark of the diversity and imagination of our supporters that we simply cannot list every fundraising event within this report. Please keep visiting our social media platforms and website for the latest news on what people have been doing.

In addition to the fundraising efforts above, we are incredibly grateful for the continuing support of organisations such as Weinerberger and Eversheds Sutherland, as well as a significant grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
