1. Objectives and Activities
Engera UK supports sustainable primary healthcare and development initiatives in southem
Ethiopia, with a particular focus on matemal and child health. The charity Works directly with
healthrAre providers and communities in under-resourced rural areas to improve access to
essential se￿l¢e5 and strengthen the local health system.
Our principal activities indude:
Training and capacity building for nurses and midwives
Providing medical equipment and supplies to rural health Clinics
Supporting maternal and newbom care
Strengthening outreach and referral systems
Supporting nutritional and educational programmes for school-aged children
All activities directly senie the public benefit by addressing preventable illness, improving the
quality of care in rural areas, and promoting long-term health equity. In setting these
objectives and activities, the trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission's
guidance on public benefit.
2. Achievements and Performance
In 2025, Engera UK focused on strengthening matemal and newbom care, improving
essential clinic infrastructure, and supporting child nutrition through sGhool-based
programmes. Activities were delivered in close collaboration with health workers. educators,
and community partners in southem Ethiopia.
Solar Power for Rural Clinics
A major achievement this year was the installation of solar panel systems at four of the rural
health centres we support. These systems now provide a stable, uninterwpted source of
electriciiy for essential clinical seNices.

This investment significantly strengthens the resilience of rural clinics and directly improves
the safety and quality of matemal and newbom care.
Essential Newborn Care- Zizencho and Galeya Cllnlcs
Engera UK also funded the purchase of two baby wanrjers, one for Zizencho Clinic and one
for Galeya Rogdha Clinic. Previously, both clinics relied on improvised methods to keep
newboms warm, parti'cularly premature and low-birth-weight infants.

These additions support better outcomes for the most fragile babies in both communities.
Galeya School Meals Project
In 2025, Engera UK also supported the Galeya School Meals Project, providing regular
nutritious meals to children attending the elementary school adjacent to Galeya Clinic. The
programme aims to improve child nutrition, support school attendance, and enhance
leaming outcomes in a community affected by food insecurity.
Since the start of the project, school enrolment has increased by approxlmately 30%,
indicating improved access to education and stronger engagement from families.

The school meals project Complements Engera's healthcare Work by addressing nutrition as
a key determinant of child heallh and development.
Other Support
Although no training programmes or additional community-based initiatives were delivered
this year, Engera UK remained in close contact with clinic and school partners to ensure that
funded equipment, infrastructure, and nutrition programmes were effectively integrated into
daily services.

3. Structure, Governance, and Management
Engera UK is a registered charity (no. 1158053) and is governed by a board of volunleer
trustees. The charity operates under a constitulion and is regulated by the Charity
Commission for England and Wales.
Trustee Recruitment and Appointment
Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity's goveming document. All trustees
serve in a voluntary capacity and receiv8 no remuneration. Each new trustee is provided
with an introduction to the charity's mission and operations.

The trustees are also responsible for oversight of the charity's finances and reserves,

workers and community leaders, supported by regular reporting and documentation.
Risk Management
The board reviews key risks annually. including operational, financial, and reputational risks.
Risks are mitigated through project4evel due diligence, diversified funding, and strong
communication with in-country partners. The charity maintains appropriate insurance and
ensures compliance with safeguarding policies.
4. Plans for the Future
In 2026, Enuera UK plans to..
Fund the installation of solar panels at Shebraber Health Center, the remaining clinic
in our ne￿Ork still without a reliable power supply
Fund essential medical equipment, including chemistry maGhines, delivery sets, and
resuscitation kits
Continue and strengthen the Galeya School Meals Programme, subject to funding
availability
Increase 8ngagement with UK-based supporters and institutions to grow the charity's
impact

Future projects will continue to be developed in direct collaboration wth frontline workers
and communities in Ethiopia, with a focus on sustainability and impact.
