## **Objectives and activities**

## **The charity's objects**

To relieve the charitable needs of disabled people in particular but not exclusively by the provision of facilities for playing football.

## **The charity's main activities**

The current activities of Bradford Disability Football Club (BDFC) are to pursue, promote and implement opportunities for disabled people in football by:

Actively increasing the number of disabled people playing football.

Actively promote awareness of equality.

Link with current local and national initiatives.

Provide advice and assistance to other potential partners.

Raise the profile of disabled football.

## **Public benefit statement**

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit.

## **Achievements and performance**

It’s been another good year for the club in many ways. Our adult membership has grown but in particular I want to say a few more words about our junior group. Recruiting junior members has always been a challenge for the club but this year it’s really starting to take off so thank you in particular to Steve and Debbie Parnaby for all the good work in getting our membership up.

We know social events are important to our members so we are proud to have been able to organise an event at least once per month last year, many of our trustees get involved in organising these but special thanks must go to Sandra and Lindsey for all their hard work.

Our financial situation is pretty good but every year the club requires significant funding, much more than the subs our members pay so we are always grateful to businesses who sponsor us whether it be large or small amounts. We also apply for funding for grants and thankfully one of our trustees, Jayne is pretty good at it!

Another of our key achievements was the appointment of our new Head Coach Indy Aujla. We have been very lucky to recruit Indy, he has a wealth of experience in football having played and coached at a very high standard both in England and Belgium, he also has lots of experience working with people with disabilities. Indy’s job is to get the very best out of each of our members no matter what their level is, make members experience fun and enjoyable and help to develop our younger coaches and members who want to progress into coaching in the future. I can genuinely say Indy is already making a positive difference to our club.

Once again, we hosted our very successful annual tournament in September with over sixty teams taking part from across the country, we believe this is now one of the largest disability football tournaments in the country.

## **Financial review**

The net receipts for the year were £4,031, including net receipts of £4,629 on unrestricted funds and net payments of £598 on restricted funds.

## **Reserves policy**

The charity's free reserves at the year end were £40.346. The trustees review the reserves level in conjunction with the annual events and expected income and expenditure for the year to ascertain that there is sufficient unrestricted funds to ensure continuity of service to the members, six months running costs are retained in reserve as a minimum.

Approved by the board of trustees on 11/07/2023

## Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Bradford Disability Football Club

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023, which are set out on pages 6 to 9.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2 the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
