The Community Association effectively closed in early 2020 after the General Meeting at which it was agreed by everyone present to dissolve the CIO (Stainton Grove Community Association).
It was decided that the contents of the Community Centre should be sold off then all remaining funds (after settlement of any outstanding debts or liabilities) could be donated to local charities in order to give something back to local residents and groups that had supported us in the past.
The Community Centre was leased from Durham County Council, they were advised of our decision to close the CIO and once the building had been emptied the keys were returned to their property division.
Because we were leasing the building we needed legal assistance to exit the lease and needed to employ a local solicitor to act on our behalf. When everything was finalised and the legal fees paid, the Trustees met to decide how to allocate the remaining funds to local charitable groups.
This was done in December 2021 but one beneficiary failed to deposit the cheque in time to clear in 2021 so the sum of £150 remained in the account until January 2022.
**All debts, liabilities and donations now having been processed, this is the final Trustees Report of Stainton Grove Community Association.**
