The PCC also has the responsibility of maintaining the Parish Centre. The parish is a registered charity and therefore all PCC members are charitable trustees.

Church Attendance

On 31[st] December 2024 there were 31 parishioners on the Church Electoral Roll. The average Sunday attendance during the year was 17 and the average Wednesday attendance was 10.

Review of the Year

Opportunities for Worship at Christ Church during 2024

Regular services have continued throughout 2024. Sunday services were at 8.45am from January to May but in June the service time changed to 9am. Wednesday service time remained unchanged at 10am.

The Christingle service on Christmas Eve was well attended.

During 2024 there were 2 baptisms, 2 weddings and 5 funerals. Headlands School visited for harvest and Christmas services.

Other matters discussed by the PCC

During 2024 there were 5 meetings of the full PCC.

Four Saturday Coffee Mornings were held during the year, providing opportunities to socialise whilst also raising much needed funds.

The church organ is in a poor condition and is now unreliable. The PCC took the decision that it is no longer fit for use at weddings, funerals and other major services.

The PCC has complied with its duty to have due regard to the House of Bishops’ guidance on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Financial Overview

The position of Treasurer has remained vacant for another year. Michael Barker has continued to look after parish finances in addition to all his other responsibilities as Churchwarden.

Our financial position remains unsustainable as our expenditure continues to exceed our income. We were only able to pay £4000 towards our parish share (£19664) for 2024 and we are unlikely to be able to pay our share (£19664) in full for 2025.

The PCC supported CART (Christian African Relief Trust), and Christians Against Poverty with donations of £20 each per month throughout 2024. A total of £432.70 was raised for the Children’s Society through the collection at the Christingle Service and individual collection boxes.

Conclusion

2024 was another challenging year for the parish. Thank you to all who have endeavoured to carry on supporting the parish in whatever ways possible.

On behalf of the PCC

Melusi Sibanda
