Elernent Soclety is an Independeni youth-led orBan15atlon th4t h45 ernpowered over 5,50) young people to
change thelr Ilves and rheir communlties slnce openlnB In 2013. Youn8 people on Element's programmes have
completed over 2tKI,000 volunteer work hour5, makin8 a dlfference in Sheffield's Ilves and communltles. Th15
vltal voluntary 4ctSon has ContrIb￿ed at least £1.7 mllllon of lrnpact to the clty.

The fallout from Covld-19 undoubtedly leavd Element and or8ani5atlons Ilke ours with more WOTk than ever if
we wani to see equltable opportunities for young people. Althou8h Covid-19 has caused untold turmoil, it ha5
woken society land fundersl up to the issues lacin8 youn8 people.
The period of mlssed educatlon and development because of Covid 19 has Impacted our abillty to recruit young
people to our pro8rammes, We anticlpated that there would be an increase in i55ue5 such as anxiety, InC￿3$e
the 8ap between have and have nots, and reduce emploYab￿litY/eMP1oYrnent options. Element already had
strate8ic plan5 to offer more employability support for young people which continues to form part of our
strate8ic plan.
We learned from the lockdowns that youn8 people had lost faith sn virtual sessions and were ready for face-to-
face activity a8aln with school takin8 precedent. We therefore sou8ht to deliver pro8ramme5 that helped wlth
addre5$5n8 anxlety and ernployabllltv.
We were able to attract a number of volunteers from the unlversltles in SheffSeld. principally èxaminln8 our
flnancS4l procedure5 rnalnly for thelr personal dèvelopment In support of the above employability t#r8et.

prolects. Our thanks go out to those lunders that had faith In Element.

of youth work rules and regulations played havoc with plannln8 at a natlonal levol. The team achSeved
over 100% ol the contractual tar8et for the nurnber ol youn8 PErsons included in f lement-led NC5
actlvltles.
Community Workin8 Groups- a prograrnme funded by the SY Violence Aedvction Unit to consult wlth
groups from across South Yorkshlre on attStudes toward5 violence and policln8
SEhool SupportlSkllls Booster- Element was able io provlde staffing dlre¢tly Into schools to support 40
student5 Struggling to return alrer the coronavirus enforced prolonged break frorn Education. This
Intervention was piloted wlth Sheffield Park Academy and Endeavour. The feedback from young people
and partners wa5 very positive. The fundin8 was provlded as part of the NCS contract frorn the EFL
TfU5t.

delivery model SQ that it can be accessed without the need forlace to face engagement.
Community Responders was a project that recruSted and tralned youn8 people across the clty who wlll
lead their own community projects to help ihelr lotal tommunlty recover from the pandemit's effetts.
Gen-Z/Act fo¥ Change Is a lolnt prolect between Element Society and Chilypep. The two organlsations
are working toRether to make youn8 people as prepared as posslble for safe and suctesslul online

Whllst the prfmary objective of Make Dough is the education of young people in Sheffield. we will also airn to..

Our airn is to do this by offerin8 healthy, socially conscious food to the people of South Yorkshire and beyond
throu8h the openin8 of a store-front with future planning to include pop-ups. events tatering and team-building
for corporate client5 to meet their C5Rs. We will echo the strapline of Element Society by helping Young People
achieve the unbelievable. Providin8 a trè¢nin8 package for all the youn8 people working for u5. It gives them the
oprM7rtunity to pro8res5. inve5tinK in them to give them the skills to become the manager5 of the future.
Unexpectedly, EFL Trust have been ruled out of being a prime contractor for 2023-25 for the NCS Residential
Pro8rammes. There may be the possibility to Still deliver NCS Residential Pro8rammes through ihe EFL Trust a5
they are a subcontractortoother provlders, however, the prudent move isto plan for no NCS residential Income.
The new NCS Grant Pro8ramme Is a separate Income avenue for which EFL Trust are still actively competin8 ro
mana8e the lund5. In the lonB term this Income stream w511 be provide more income that 5tick5 in beneficiary
or8ani5atlon5 rather than flowin8 throu8h ro activity provider5. However. we have rnade the decision to plan
wlthout any of th15 Income.
Lots of opporrunltSe5 have opened up for Element now that NCS will not be usSn8 811 of Of8aDlsational capacity
durin8. and In the run up to. school holidèy5. Element will be deliverin8 a v8r5ety of new contracts for Sheffield
Cliy Councll.. Holiday ActSvlty Fund, Alternative Provision lor Primary PupS15, and EnterprSse Camps. All ol thesè
contracts provlde further opportunity to develop and diversify the or8anls41ion.s revenue stre8ms.
