Appointment of charity trustees Trustee selection methods (1) At the first annual general meeting of the members of the CIO all the (eg. appointed by, elected by) charity trustees shall retire from office; (2) The charity trustees to retire by rotation shall be those who have been longest in office since their last appointment or reappointment. If any trustees were last appointed or reappointed on the same day those to retire shall (unless they otherwise agree among themselves) be determined by lot; (3) The vacancies so arising may be filled by the decision of the members at the annual general meeting; any vacancies not filled at the annual general meeting may be filled as provided in sub-clause (5) of this clause; (4) The members or the charity trustees may at any time decide to appoint a new charity trustee; whether in place of a charity trustee who has retired or been removed in accordance with clause 15 (Retirement and removal of charity trustees), or as an additional trustee, provided that the limit specified in clause 12(3) on the number of charity trustees would not as a result be exceeded; (5) A person so appointed by the members of the CIO shall retire in accordance with the provisions of sub-clauses (2) and (3) of this clause. A person so appointed by the charity trustees shall retire at the conclusion of the next annual general meeting after the date of his or her appointment, and shall not be counted for the purpose of determining which of the charity trustees is to retire by rotation at that meeting. **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

Donations With A Difference is a grant making trust supporting general charitable purposes. It is the policy of the trustees to make grants to a wide range of charitable bodies and individuals. 

Grants are made primarily, but not limited to, registered charities, charitable organisations and individuals in the UK within the following funding areas; Physical Health, Mental Health & Education.

The charity continues to raise funds in numerous ways by running various events as described in “Section D Achievements and performance”. Some of the sporting events not only raise funds for the charity but also improves and encourages physical health.

Grants in 2020 were as follows: 

## **See Ability - £382** 

We continue to support this local charity and this funds the purchase a digital radio and fibre optic lights to help people improve their ability to engage and express through these sensory specialist equipment. 

## **Ella Louth - £163** 

A small grant to provide Ella with a wheelchair canopy. Ella is using an NHS wheelchair and this will help to keep her more warm and dry. 

## **Claire Moss - £2,151** 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

We were thrilled to step in and agree to help the family with their mission to fund the remaining £2,100 needed for Claire’s new electric chair as they had done a lot of fund raising themselves 

## **Lucy Bowen - £468** 

Following on from a grant towards the end of 2019 for Lucy to have a Delichon Delta off road buggy we have now funded a further £468 to provide Lucy with a cycle conversion kit **Rachel Lewis - £3,097** Rachel is 10 years and suffers from a defective Gene Tub 3 that has caused a congenital brain abnormality and continuing associated difficulties. We were delighted to fund an all-terrain buggy which is used all the time giving Rachel much more freedom, including taking the waterproof buggy into the sea near their home in Whitstable. The family has been able to take trips spontaneously rather than having to research access and restrictions **Sharon Lewers - £2,739** We purchased a tilt in space wheelchair with carer assist for Sharon as she has scoliosis, osteoporosis of the spine and shoulders. Sharon suffers from a condition called FHD and has many physical and mental disabilities. **Stephanie Kemp - £1,233** Stephanie has been ill with encephalitis and epilepsy since 2001 and also has functional neurological disorder and spinal issues. Stephanie came to us with a request for a manual wheelchair to ensure she has mobility all of the time as her electric wheelchair is far too heavy to get in and out of cars, We purchased a red and black neon quickie wheelchair from Complete Care Shop to meet Stephanie’s needs 

## **Lucy Bowen - £800** 

To further Lucy’s development we supported an additional request for a

specialist trike to enable Lucy to become more independently active in outdoor spaces 

**Dennis Spinner - £94** To assist with Dennis’ pre-school development, to enable Dennis to create better posture to manage his condition we purchased a specialist small wooden chair, designed for nursery age. **Ellenor Hospice - £2,930** 

This hospice approached us with a request to purchase a bariatric bed and mattress to be used in their hospice by many who will need it in the coming years. 

**Zoya - £150** 

Zoya was in need of a specialist car seat, so we purchased via her healthcare support’s application a Cosatto Judo Group 123 Carseat - Bunny Buddy car seat

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

The charity had great success throughout _previous years_ with fundraising throughout the following events: Golf Days Charity Ball Super10 (online football game) Nominated charity funding. Special events nominating us as the benefactor charity 

During the course of 2020 our primary focus was to manage the grant fund we had generated in 2019 wisely, given we had to suspend nearly all forms of fundraising due to the pandemic.

The charity does not have a specific policy regards reserves. It is the responsibility of the treasurer to maintain enough money in the bank accounts to fund all forthcoming grants and/or expenses. No grants are awarded without first a monthly review of funds available for the pending decisions. At no point during the financial period was the account overdrawn.
