- We provide 2 support sessions per week during termtime and as much as possible during the school holidays. We provide free breastfeeding support, and we also signpost to further information and services where appropriate. We have many people who attend our sessions on a regular basis and so we have been able to facilitate social interactions between people at the sessions also. We have two trainee peer supporters.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
-
We are now cleared to volunteer in the local hospital (Queens)
-
• We regularly attend the local area’s Infant Feeding Team meetings which work on improving breastfeeding support within the Borough. Representatives from the council, children’s services and local healthcare professionals are represented at these meetings.
-
Part of these meetings involves helping the council to develop their Breastfeeding Welcome scheme which is now underway and has local businesses signed up to it.
-
We have a continued strong social media presence and we have branched out to using Instagram as a social media platform as well in order to promote the services we offer more widely. Social media enables us to continue to provide some online support, which can be very valuable to people who are unable to attend our sessions or unable to wait for our next session.
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)
You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about:
-
policy on grantmaking;

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
-
We begin a second session at Hornchurch library and are now providing face-to-face support.
-
• Attending the Infant Feeding Meetings within the Borough on a monthly basis has helped us work with members of the council and local healthcare professionals to raise the standard and availability of breastfeeding support in the area. We continue to get people attending our sessions who have been referred to us by healthcare professionals because of our attendance at these meetings.
-
We are continuing to work with Havering Council to reintroduce the Breastfeeding Friendly scheme across the Borough. This is now underway and more businesses in the local area are signing up.
-
• Our social media presence is improving, and we are well established in the platforms that we are using. Some people report to us that they found our sessions via social media, so this continues to be an important method of self-promotion for us. We are now focusing on asking other local parenting support providers to recommend our services via social media platforms to further raise our profile.
-
All of our sessions have been very well attended. As a result, we have previously asked some of our regular attendees whether they would like to complete breastfeeding support training so they can volunteer with us for some of our sessions and we currently have one mother completing a training course so she can do this.
-
• We have 2 new fully qualified peer supporters.
-
• We regularly support mums on the local maternity ward.
